One thing they don't tell people is if you don't turn your hood to the grinding mode it's always on. Turn it to the grinding mode and the hood is off and your battery will last longer.

My Wel-Bilt helmet from Northern Tool started acting up. Followed your instructions and got the batteries out. Put new batteries in and it works great again. I couldn’t find the exact same batteries so I found some that were a little bit smaller diameter. I didn’t put anything around the edge like the original batteries had. I just stuck them between the two metal contacts and snapped the case back together and it worked fine. Thank you!

Big shout out for the video! My helmet stopped working and I ordered a new one (Lincoln off Amazon), but it hasn’t arrived yet. Used your video to take my HF one apart. The glue holding the 2 half’s of the lens was a little more stubborn. I used a 1/64” grinding wheel on a Dremel tool to cut part way through, then an Exacto knife to finish the cut. I checked the voltage on the batteries. The one on the right still held over 3 volts, but the left one was down to about 1.2 volts. So I popped out the bad one and replaced it with a CR 2032. Had some 3/4” heat shrink, which fit around the replace battery, thus replacing the yellow insulation of the old one. Used a small piece of electrical tape to hold the contacts in place, and another piece of tape folded over to provide pressure on the battery for when the case was reassemble. Closed up the case with electrical tape, to make it easier to get back inside, as I ordered some CR 2335 batteries which I’ll use to replace both at a future date. Helmet worked great after the repairs. Sad that HF doesn’t build these with battery replacement in mind. P.S. search for DIY mini welder, battery welder to find ideas on how to spot weld the batteries in place if you want a more permanent solution.

Couldn't find the batteries so I used two AAA a cells in a small pouch of heat shrink velcroed over the LCD module. Seems to work pretty well and might last a lot longer.

I have found that Amazon has cr2330 10pk for under $8. To solder a wire (or original foot) to the footless battery, use high temp for short time to tin the battery first. Then use same heat to solder the wire to the pre-tinned battery. Same physical size as cr2335 and 250mah which is more than enough. Tape on each end to keep it together.

A for effort. Well done, nicely explained. And, it is way too much work for us. We'll share until there's a great sale.

Apparently they really don't want you replacing the batteries or they would make it way easier. They want to sell you a new helmet.

I got a metal man helmet where you have to take out the batteries or they are drained in 5 days, they use the smallest batteries possible so you are constantly taking out something the size of a toe nail that most likely you might lose. Then I had a lincon electric and they were soldered in and you cant use a normal solder gun to put new ones in. Theres got to be something out there that uses a common battery that lasts a long time and you can replace, with an on off switch.

@awfab3517 you could make an external pouch in your helmet and solder leads to a little AA or AAA battery box.

hi can i ask you something I have a welding mask, it has a CR2450 battery for darkening. Can I replace the battery with a different type? like cr 2016 or cr 2025 etc?

@@dikyyulisal1457 those other cells size should work if the voltage is the same. Use the largest one you can fit. There will be room that you need to fill, use something that is not conductive so the battery doesn't move.

Well they were heavy handed with the glue on the #91214 helmet and all you will succeed in doing is destroying the assmebly. So don't buy a model that does not have removable battery.
