With ryan's detailed shed plans kzitem.infoUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).

I built this and it worked for about 2 months. The corners in the front pulled apart. I would use some metal corner braces or prebend the cattle panel so there isn't so much outward pressure. It's a good, cheap design otherwise.

Handy set up. We would have to use hardware cloth for the fencing though. It's the only stuff small enough to keep weasels from getting the chicks. They get through the smaller size chicken wire. I assume wiry little weasels with an appetite for noisy chicks aren't a problem in your area, unlike here in upstate NY. Of course they can't get the bodies out, so they kill, drag the bodies to one pile and leave them. That's their modus operandi.

I built this and put plywood in the front corners on each side, one for the water, one for the food. Put a rack in the back for them to sleep on and put three milk crates in the back with small holes in the chicken wire for my wife to get the eggs. Put some old lawn mower wheels that are adjustable in each corner. And we roll it around the chickens love it and actually eat a lot of grass and bugs and very little feed.

You guys are great! Thank you. I have watched your video on building a $50 1 hour chicken coop and I built one myself. I really like the build. But what I did not count on was a whole bunch of rain daily. It has been raining here for almost 2 weeks today is the first day of a break of no rain. Anyway even though I covered my pen with a tarp during the rain the chickens are soaked from the ground water saturation. Tonight I will be laying pallets down on the ground top them off with a sheet of 4X4 plywood then place the coop on top of the plywood to get my chickens off the ground. We are supposed to get rain the rest of this week too. :(

You could pin hardware cloth wire elevated a tiny bit at the bottom in some sort of way. A word of caution with this design is Chicken wire is not reliable against predators - we have lost chickens to raccoons trying to pull the chicken through the wire as they can grab them if the chickens/chicks are close to the edge. Use a smaller gapped wire instead if you can afford it.

I had to cover my coop with 1/2x1/2" rabbit cage wire to keep the raccoons from reaching in and grabbing birds. I stack concrete blocks around the outside to keep dogs from digging under. If you have good fences, guard dogs and electric fences around your coop area you might get away with a chickentractor like this. I made five raised beds out of the blocks side by side that the coop fits into. And I move the coop from bed to bed periodically. I plant deer forageseed ahead of the chickens and people food behind them. I may just plant chicken forage in the five beds this year and see how that rotation works out.

I mean designs are always going to need tweeked to deal with dilemmas in your particular area. Some people have low predator pressure and can free range and use next to nothing, others practically need fort Knox. Some have excessive cold others heat. Take what works for you and leave the rest

I like it! One thing I would do differently, is to make it easier to open and close the "door" securely. I have found when using utility fencing this way, that a few large-headed nails placed strategically works to hold the panel edge in place, when you have to pull it hard to stretch it to hook over the heads. So, it's open in an instant, and closes just as quickly.
