Chicken Xacuti Recipe | Goan Chicken Xacuti | Best Chicken Xacuti | How to make Chicken Xacuti
To make Chicken Xacuti we need:
Chicken 500g curry cut pieces
apply salt and keep aside
for Chicken marination:
Coriander 1/2 cup
Garlic 6-8 pods
Green chillies 2nos
Finger 1/2"
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
grind all ingredients to a fine paste with very little water.
marinate chicken with the paste and set aside.
FOR THE GRAVY:
Grated Coconut ½ cup
Poppy Seeds ½ tsp
Coriander 1-½ -tbsp
Fennel Seeds ½-tsp
Chopped onions 2-small
Dry Chillies 6-8 nos
Black Peppers 12-15nos
Cloves 6-8nos
Cardamoms 2nos
Cinnamon 1" x2
Javitri (mace) ½
Black cardamom 1no
Star anise 3-petals
Nutmeg ¼ or less
dry roast all ingredients (except onions and coconut) on medium heat for about 5mins. Once done spread it out onto a plate and allow it to cool
• Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in the same pan
• Add chopped onion and grated coconut
• once done remove it onto a plate and allow it to cool
• once the roasted spices, fried coconut & onion cools down blend them
together to a fine paste.
• Heat 3-4 tbsp oil in a pan
• Add 1 green chilli, slitted and a few curry leaves
• Add 1 large onion finely chopped
• Saute until lightly brown and translucent
• Add marinated chicken, fry for 2 mins on medium heat
• Cover and cook for 7-8 mins on medium heat
• Add curry paste, mix well and bring it to boil
• Add one cup of 250ml water out of leftover paste from the grinder.
• over & cook for 15-20 mins or until chicken is cooked.
