Tyler Quebedeaux As a college student who always shows up to class and even stealthily comes to a weird and interesting class I'm not supposed to be in: your students are working, trying to find work or living off campus with their parents who struggle to pay for everything. In that last case, every time they avoid paying for transportation, it makes the mood at home less frosty/sad and the "Why won't you just leave/find a job at 19 like we did?" vibes go down a notch. The only people who can afford to attend more classes than absolutely necessary to pass are people like me: privileged kids who just decide to get another master's degree after getting the first because "Actually I don't like that job and I miss college, I was bored". So next time you criticize those students, remember that the only people you're helping are bored, idle, upper-middle class faux intellectuals like me who basically see you as a source of entertainment between two vacations in Spain. I find it peak humor that Chidi's mental breakdown is not only 100% coherent and cognizant but also adherent to a philosophical school of thought after coming to a logical conclusion with his own rationalizations based upon reality as he has come to understand it. I literally dropped and rolled on the floor and started laughing. so. hard. Especially when I re-hit play and realized he was doing a lecture in front of his students, I just completely lost it. Those kinds of explosive laughs are rare, thanks Chidi lol

All of Chidi's undoing arc in this episode was the best!! I hope someone does a supercut of just the decent from being broken by the dot to telling the kids to leave. I will watch it all day... PS Chidi is indeed surprisingly jacked, as Eleanor said in season one.

This scene really encapsulates the heart of nihilism: It isn't about answering anything, not in any substancial way: It's a coping mechanism, it's breaking under the stress, a dissociative state of being, generated from the overwhelming emotional stress of the percieved chaos of it all... Not much unlike any belief in an afterlife, it's a conviction in regards to the weight of our actions, another attempt to answer the mystery of what happens after we die.

I mean I tend towards nihilism, but the fact that Chidi has experienced a little of the afterlife, and knows that there's a moral factor to it, and is an authority on Immanuel Kant, and yet still goes all nihilistic is really something
