Another plot hole I noticed too was the dead elites Easter egg when playing as Buck. Buck never lost consciousness like Rookie did so it was within the same day of the jump. The changing of the guards and Great Schism didn’t happen until some time after Regret was killed, which like you said would’ve happened weeks after the ODSTs dropped.
@beeb5872

to be fair, this may have been (reaching here mind you) due to the animosity between the elites and brutes pre-schism as well. for example, the lore reasoning for the lack of brutes in CE is that Thel had little respect for them, thus he thought them too savage to be allowed to set foot on the sacred rings. the dead elites here could be a result of them simply picking a fight with the brutes. still, it is more likely to be a plot hole.

Because the time difference is so drastic in context of their location, the exact instant that the ship returns to normal space is the *exact* time for us on earth in which the schism happens, it’s why we don’t see any elites alive in new Mombasa. Halo 3 ODST has its name because it was originally planned to be a DLC for the base Halo 3 game. It wasn't changed to be a standalone product until LATE in development. Early builds of ODST have a ton of code referencing it being accesable directly from the Halo 3 main menu. By the time the marketing material was finalized, Bungee still hadn't 100% come to the decision to separate it from the main game yet. This actually had a really interesting development history.
