When I hear these melodies and the groove, it tells me where calypso music originated from!! Old Calabar !

So interesting! Trinidadians also speak of "Griots" only found in West African locales such as Senegambia, Mali, and like the Hausa tribe in Northern Nigeria and surrounding regions. I've also heard talk of Liberian and Kikongo origins 😅 who truly knows..? Perhaps a conglomeration of all.

@@aaron0077 You are not wrong, but equally interesting, is the fact that calypso used to be called Kaiso! Kaiso is a word from amongst the Efik and Ibibio people of Old Calabar in South south Nigeria! The word is usually shouted out when people are dancing, the connotation being for people to " get it on" or "get down" to the groove ! Many Africans made captives were shipped out of the south east region of Nigeria during the transatlantic trade!! It makes sense that the cultural vibes of the people resurrected and resurfaced in the Caribbean islands! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!
