We summit Chief Lodgepole Peak above Cobalt Lake in this just over 16 mile hike in the Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park. We start at the South Shore Trailhead and hike the Two Medicine South Shore Trail. We then join the Two Medicine Pass Trail to head to Cobalt Lake. We take a nice stop at Rockwell Falls and Cobalt lake before summiting Chief Lodgepole Peak. From the summit numerous peaks reveal themselves and panoramic views are just stunning. Swainson’s Thrush were singing as we started down the trail. We saw three moose on the way up and not a single person. On the way down we saw four backcountry campers making their way to Two Medicine Pass as well as one park ranger. Some folks had taken their horses up to Cobalt Lake as well. A great hike in Glacier that provides solitude as well as fantastic views. Enjoy!
