Britain must brace for potential foreign meddling in the upcoming general election, a parliamentary committee has warned.
In a letter to Rishi Sunak, Dame Margaret Beckett, chair of the national security strategy committee, highlighted a "pattern of attempted foreign interference" from countries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
The National Cyber Security Centre noted that Russian actors almost certainly tried to interfere in the 2019 election, and there's precedent for China attempting to influence democratic processes abroad.
The committee stressed that the UK must be ready for the possibility of foreign interference in the July 4 election.
