He teaches in the building attached to the one I'm in. Never seen him around, though. The teachers/students at the SCUPI part of SCU are fairly sequestered from the rest of the student/faculty body

Added it for my May book. 😊 As you can see below, my queue is growing faster than I can finish them! 😂 (my fault for taking a nostalgic SciFi/End of the world sidetrack with my Son 🤷🏼♀️😁. That’s OK, it was worth it...kind of. I’d forgotten what apocalyptic dream adventures I’d get when reading that type of book. My kids have renewed their call for me to write out some of my extremely vivid, detailed, “disaster” dreams. When they were young and I was frequently reading SciFi; our breakfast time was filled with volcanos in Tallahassee, Comets hitting Birmingham, and tornados destroying our home near Huntsville...oh wait...that last one wasn’t a dream..😂) On books: I don’t think I’ve read a single book on China yet which avoids ALL politics...but I also had a specific interest in the history, economics and structure of current political thought in China. I was fascinated as to how someone like me, who spends much of my time reading and researching these days; could have succumbed to a completely delusional understanding of China, her history and people. Most of all, it saddens me, knowing what a cooperative, mutual “friendship” could make possible for the future of both of our countries. Learning about the real history of China, the ancient philosophies that still guide most Chinese today, and seeing the unprecedented growth and reforms over the past 40 years; has been the most fulfilling experience in my life. China certainly isn’t perfect; NO country is, there are ALWAYS more areas to grow and learn from. But changing the current warped narrative about China here in the West has become extremely important to me. On today’s current trajectory; It terrifies me to think about what could happen if we DON’T succeed in getting the truth out. @@austinguidry2 I want to HIGHLY recommend another book that a Chinese author friend sent me a few years ago. This is a VERY different kind of fictional novel, that covers SO Much (history, culture, language, etc); it’s difficult to fit it into one category l. I think I might have mentioned it to you before because it had such an impact on me. To be honest; it reminds me of James Joyce’s writings. I LOVE a challenge, and this book certainly WAS a challenge, but worth every second. It was also the last printed book I purchased and I’m hoping this authors other works will one day be available on kindle and/or audible. As much as I loved this book, when I recommend it to others, I forewarn them-get this book to read ALONE (I’m usually reading 2-3 books at a time); it’s a book that demands your sole attention. Also, just FYI-a friend in Shenzhen wasn’t able to find this anywhere; but a former colleague now in Beijing, picked it up at a bookstore there. One of my Son’s friends found it in Chengdu after some effort. I didn’t see anything in it that would be controversial, but it DOES start during the Cultural Revolution. Basically.....nobody's getting a new visa to come to China right now. A lot of countries' Chinese embassies' visa sectors are closed (including the USA). Here's a list of Chinese embassies: www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/wjb_663304/zwjg_665342/2490_665344/ Here's a statement from the consulate in Los Angeles: losangeles.china-consulate.org/eng/visa/chinavisa/t1864651.htm Your local consulate/embassy is the place to contact. As far as I know, there's basically no news. Still a closed border, basically :(

@@austinguidry2 I see. But for your job, you renew visa/residence permit every year? Is the process the same during COVID? no harder, easier?
