Tibet is more Indian than Chinese. Tibetan script / language is inspired by Sanskrit. Some time back Ambassador cars used to run in Lhasa , Tibet used to trade through Calcutta port. India lost its stature in Tibet due to our political leaders' incompetence. They let an arrogant China come right up to our borders ( which were originally with a friendly Tibet , thereby , bringing an Enemy at the Gates ===================== India should stop Treating Tibet as part of China. Tibetan areas should be referred to as CHINESE OCCUPIED TIBET . The Government of His Holiness The Dalai Lama should be given official recognition by India. India must recoup its Influence over Tibet. India must protect Tibetan Culture ( from Han - Mainland Chinese genocide

We tibetans have been shouting since the last six decades never to trust China but who listens. Now the world begins to experience themselves, same is the case with India. India under Nehru ji,tried to avoid confrontation with China by accepting China's one China policy regarding Tibet but now India is experiencing the result of its past mistake.

@Bhanu Pratap Singh No civil war broke out in the USSR. Gorbachev was a coward and communism is a failed policy anyways. As far as China is concerned, the CCP is such a farce with key politburo members owning large amounts of property - something completely against the tenets of Karl Marx and Engels. China knows what being brutal means - something the Russians know but only to a degree. The Uighurs can't do a thing despite the open detention centers, disappearance of political prisoners etc. Where are our neighboring green brethren from Pakistan crying for their fellow Muslim Uighurs in China? The dragon swallows to never spit out...Tibet is no exception. India should have learnt and captured those darned fingers on Pangong lake.

An independent Tibet is required as a strategic buffer between India and Mainland ( Han ) China. Nehru ignored Sardar Patel's advice and capitulated to China 's moves to end Indian political influence in Tibet.

India government officially recognize Tibet is a part of PRC, period, so first thing for Indians is to ask their government to change this position. However, if Indian government did change this position, then that means China will cut off all official ties with India. Will India take this risk?? Australia can be against China as it like, with total about 40,000 of its army, it cannot do anything to China, India is different, India is just next to China and China-India border is very difficult for any other country to access, if war broke out, no other country can really help India in any real means. Free Tibet is only a dream (just like Free HK, Free TW, you may shout out as loud as you like, just has no use in reality), if India can do it, it should have done it 70 years ago, not now. Tibetan people now enjoys twice more income in US dollar value than people of India in Assam states. When China sent PLA into Tibet, Nehru asked his former boss UK for advice, the foreign ministry of UK told Nehru that there was not a single country could stop China send its army into Tibet, certainly not India, so better just recognize this reality. do not use US to scare China, totally useless, whatever law passed in the US has no legal bonding for China, US will not start a war with China just for Tibet. From molecular anthropology studies, Tibetan and Han Chinese were the same origin migrated from Africa started 80,000 years ago, went along the coast line then moved into today's China, from area about today's Sichuan in China, ancestors of Tibetan went westwards to today's Tibet, and Han Chinese moved north into today's north, east part of China.

@Bhanu Pratap Singh! Your comparison of Tibet to Bhutan is rather unfortunate and reflects your mindset, if you compare their history & geography. It is a (your) terrible contrast between the two. Tibet is ancient . Bhutan was under British suzerainty & when it fell off at India's independence, it favoured to make that an independent country. Both happen to be neighbours sharing Himalayas. So be circumspect (armed with some history & geography) before you comment. Else desist from it.

India ( at least our Independent and Fearless Media ) should seek the views of Tibetan Govt. in Exile ( Dharmshala , HP ). The territory ( under Chinese Occupation belongs actually to Tibet ). We must highlight the Tibetan views. India is very lucky in that the Living God His Holiness The Dalai Lama has chosen to Bless India with his Presence. China/ Communist Leadership on the other hand , is SDC ( Spiritually Deficient Country ) and hence can be very dangerous / unpredictable .
