Excellent sports infrastructure!! Difficult to pick a favourite!! Brilliant stuff Alex!! Also a good explanation that you gave regarding why the PRC has invested its fair share into new stadiums. I've heard it all before from those stupid sceptics about why the nation is spending a substantial amount on stadiums that according to them, "won't be reused." As usual, they don't have any fact checking skills.

I would absolutely love to hear from you on those "fact checking skills" that prove government investments into sport stadiums is a good investment. As a Canadian, my local experience is exactly the opposite. For example, Canadian taxpayers invested $850B USD (today's money equivalent) in 1989 to build "SkyDome" the premiere stadium in Toronto for it's baseball team the Toronto Blue Jays. The companies that ran the Toronto Blue Jays didn't have to pay and hence profited immensely from this government paid stadium using taxpayers money. As the cost of maintaining the stadium at taxpayer's expenses became unsustainable, it was eventually sold in 2004 to a private company for just $33M USD (today's money equivalent) which proves the entire project simply fleeced Canadian taxpayers. If you think this is bad, you should read up on America's largest football stadium the Pontiac Superdome that was built in Michigan in 1975! This stadium cost US taxpayers over $1B to build in today's money, and yet was just sold for $550,000 in 2009 to a private investor. If the stadiums were built with private money, no one would care about them loosing money on the investment, but if governments is expected to foot the bill with taxpayer's money (essentially what the CCP is doing today but a much larger scale), my experience is the exact opposite of what you consider "don't have any fact checking skills".

@yinhoukhor7109

@@dougpeng3093, a number of points can be made here. Firstly, I'm not sure why you are using Canadian statistics to form your conclusions about the Chinese experience. They are two very different nations with very different systems. Secondly, as a sporting nation, China has improved immensely over the past couple of decades which is in part, a reflection on its increase in sporting expenditure. Just look at the nation's performances in the Olympics as an example. It's a regular top two nation in the Summer Olympics for the last umpteen Olympic Games. Even in the most recent Winter Olympics, it finished third and it's not even traditionally a winter sporting nation!!! On top of that, new stadiums have the potential to host many global sporting events not just currently but in the future, which generate lots of revenue into the economy. Hence, good returns on investment. And if you actually watched this video, they are also used to help promote more health and fitness across the nation. I would say that kind of government expenditure is far more worthwhile than say, spending it on global conflicts like some other nations do. Just some food for thought for you.
@dougpeng3093
2 жыл бұрын
@@yinhoukhor7109 "I'm not sure why you are using Canadian statistics to form your conclusions about the Chinese experience. They are two very different nations with very different systems" This was exactly the same mentality Canadians had when they built Skydome in the late eighties. At that time, many US sports stadiums such as the Pontiac Superdome that I cited were loosing money and bleeding taxpayer's money badly. But the mentality was, "This is Canada, not the United States". This kind of arrogance is what lead to the loss of $1B of Canadian taxpayer's money. Governments are always willing to gamble with taxpayers money because it doesn't cost them anything to look good. What you claim are benefits have not been proven yet, but simply speculation that governments are all too willing to bet (your propositions were exactly what the Canadian government said in the 80s why they invested so much into Skydome). Speculation that should be borne by for-profit private enterprises that benefit from the stadiums, not taxpayers. It's always the taxpayers that are saddled with the debt and cost and hence why I don't agree with your statement about fact checking skills when it comes to government backed spending. I agree that military spending is a waste of money. What Russia is doing is the perfect example spending all their money propping up a military complex instead of it's people. They will pay dearly for this mistake.

Stadiums have certainly come a long way since the days of big concrete eyesores with plastic seats. They do so well to satisfy seating capacity requirements and keep them relatively unobtrusive with a low profile. I like the willingness of the owners/constructers in China to incorporate and actualise architectural design concepts and themes regardless of overall cost. The reluctance to compromise completely to purely economic constraints shows confidence and is another indicator of a country on the rise.

"Disciplinary action has multiple rewards "- it needs discipline and good political system and education system to develop a country. India being American satellite state never become a next China. China bullet train railways 40,000 kilometres and India still zero.China super expressways 1,68,000 kilometres and India still 2,100 kilometres only.it needs discipline and discipline and corruption free political system to develop India like China which is totally impossible. Corrupt politicians or government officials are sent to jail or shoot death in China till now... ......

Thank you Alex! Your videos about China are always eye-opening for me as Chinese living in America, where I haven't seen any change since I moved here 17 years ago. I felt I was living in a third world when i was driving on the bumpy roads everyday.
