I swapped from a tbss to the same intake and lost a ridiculous amount of et at the track. Ripped it off threw the tbss back on and all the et came back. Glad to see my track results lining up with the dyno. I bet it would be a more dramatic loss vs a tbss. It sucks tho because they do look nice.

Rock solid comparison, Matt. I wonder what the inside of the intake looks like. Always sad seeing some of these intakes on builds where it's pretty apparent they spent some coin on the rest of the car.

it has trumpets 1/3 way up into intake, i did a video showing off the quality wich is actually good, but sad that it doesnt make same or less, i guess if you have a cruiser or want it to look good and dont mind the loss, its a good option at least

It's a real short runner with a velocity stack top kinda looks like a velocity stack itb setup with an aluminum "box" built around it. I'm sure this intake would pick up power north of 7200rpm but at that point it's impractical

That TB adapter doesn’t have the port for the IAC to work, if you had trouble getting it to idle. I chased my tail with that on a truck that someone brought me to tune.

I swapped from a TBSS to this sheet metal high runner one. Killed all the torque on spool up, but up top I feel like it keeps pulling. I’ve also picked up ET with it but maybe it was luck. Combo is 4.8 ss2 vsr t4 80mm

All I could imagine would be that intake, if it was ever going to work better than ab early truck, might only be effective with a big cam, possibly big ci, beyond 6500rpms and with a 92mm+ TB. On a 6L or less, lower rpms, basic turbo system, I am not surprised it is less effective. Maybe it would be a good choice for someone who wants to nerf low rpm power...if they are trying to keep a 4L60 alive, have traction issues...have an electronic wastegate and they plan to feed in tons of boost upstairs so it doesn't matter...just trying to find some positive here, I suppose it could have been worse and killed more power. Maybe the 87+mm TB would make it closer to even. Thanks for confirming what we all probably suspected. Maybe some maniac that Banzai revs, 7000-7800rpms, a 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0/6.2 might find some power with a 102 way up high, it would depend heavily as to if they would be quicker, would have to be a very light car, high stall, dialed situation, Don't B.S. Me stuff will likely be slower unless they had traction issues that benefit from less tq😂 😂😂😂

Not a Sheet metal, but on my Sierra, 6.0, stock 317s, TBSS, 78mm TB, Turbo deal would run 5.7s/9.0s, tried a Hi ram for science and lost 2 tenths and 2 mph through the 8th/etc. even on a 1050-1100 rwhp set up at 4300lbs, shifting at 7400, the TBSS just worked better. was having to leave with much more boost with hi ram and took twice as long to make it. Went right back to TBSS.

Hi, great test Matt! Now I want to ask your opinion from all your testing and all your dyno pulls of turbo cars. I have a 72 nova, 6.0 LQ4 with twin S366 turbos, intercooler, TBSS intake, 799 heads, 150 pounders, 15 lbs boost, turbo 400, 3.42 gears, terminator x. However, on the TBSS intake, I'm still running the Gen III stock truck intake cable throttle body with adapter! lol Car runs great and pulls strong now. Do you think it is worth it for the cost to upgrade the throttle body to a cable 92 mm and by doing this I will see a significant boost in performance from the throttle body swap? I'm guessing it won't make a big difference and be mostly a wasted cost. My buddy thinks it will be a huge difference! From all your experienced educated dyno pulls & thoughts what is your opinion? I have read the performance increase from the larger throttle body is is an illusion because a larger throttle body lets more air in earlier feeling like more hp from the gas pedal earlier, but its really close to the same part throttle & max hp numbers? Thank you so much for all your great videos Matt! Bob
