The problem is which streaming source can be used. If you use CCTV-13 / CCTV Live News as the streaming source, it will be mandarin Chinese broadcasting spanning ~2 hours or more, with a lot of live camera or on-site interviews. If you use CGTN as the streaming source, it is in English but mostly guests talking spanning a smaller window.
@wchengvision

@@Number__00 Those CCTV Live News / CCTV-13 mandarin live streaming are very informative, but seldomly translated to English (unless used by CGTN clips) or officially live streamed on KZitem (there were live/recorded videos on KZitem without translation, eg CNSpace or CNSA Watcher channels). There could be comparative advantages if Dongfang Hour streaming can provide more stuff such as some English translation / intro, Q & A, etc, based on these sources.

@JeffzTube, @Wei Cheng, all good points. I'm still hesitating, to be honest. When I personally watch a CN launch live stream, I pick CCTV because I feel there's a much higher amount of info in there compared to CGTN. But putting a mandarin stream for non-mandarin-speaking viewers isn't ideal. So I was thinking of using the CGTN stream, and then having some prepared notes/info to share, during which I would turn the stream down (similar to what Everyday Astronaut or RocketGyan do)...🤔 I could also do Q&A, although as @JeffzTube mentioned, I am dreading the haters 😅

Dmitry Rogozin, in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel, spoke about the preparation of an agreement with China on a lunar station. It is planned that in July the Roscosmos delegation will leave for Beijing. Led by Dmitry Rogozin, they will visit a number of enterprises and plan to sign this intergovernmental agreement there. 🤝 “Russia and China combine their lunar projects and exchange information on the results of missions, and in the future they are going to deploy a full-fledged lunar station at the South Pole,” said the head of the State Corporation. Time to wake up. This is already done. All the very large asteroids, able to create "another asteroid extinction event" have been detected and currently none is dangerous. We know we will not go like the dinosaurs, at least not from natural causes. The last large earth crossing asteroid was detected in 2001, and since then, even though we have much better detection systems, none other have been found.

Dart is aiming at Dimorphos (diameter around ~170m according to Wikipedia). That means that the asteroid has a mass of roughly 4/3*π*170^3/8 * density. If we take a density of 2g/cm^3, then the mass of Dimorphos is very roughly 5 million tons (if I got the calculations right 😅). And so 500 kg does seem negligeable, as does 3-5 tons for the LM5 upper stage... Important to note though: both these impacters will have a massive velocity (probably several km/s), a parameter that is squared in the formula of kinetic energy...
@widmermt
2 жыл бұрын
@@DongfangHour I also got a ballpark figure of 5 or 6 million tons (5-6 billion kg). I assumed equal densities for Dimorphos and Didymos.
@widmermt
2 жыл бұрын
Xiao, I think the purpose of the DART mission is to produce some kind of measurable effect (in the orbital period of Dimorphos), and then use that as a gauge of what may be possible using larger-mass projectiles. People don't necessarily expect 500 kg to be enough to prevent a large asteroid from hitting Earth.
