I was in Columbus Park in Manhattan's Chinatown on Thursday, September 15, 2016, enjoying three competing groups of Chinese singers/musicians, and I started recording this group just as the song was ending. Ten seconds in, however, after the singer stopped, the two violin players and the banjo player continued on their own--and it’s some of the best playing I’ve ever heard in the park. The one-string violin they use is called an Erhu.
