Fun fact: Steve Ells didn't give two shits about Chipotle. He was just using it to earn enough money to start a fine dining restaurant, but then Chipotle got so big and the money came rolling in. So, he decided he liked the money more and committed to Chipotle
@largebills337

Good thing he stuck with it and stuck to his guns with the local sourced fresh ingredients. That must have been what caused them to split from Mickey deez. They would have waited until they had a huge customer base and cut quality down hard to find the cheapest ingredients they could buy in gargantuan quantities and you end up with Taco Bell 2.
@Medbread
Жыл бұрын
@@largebills337 Actually, he only decided to locally source after McDonald's chose to let go of Chipotle due to money issues. In fact, Chipotle generally had a good standing in terms of ingredient quality until McDonald's left, and forced Chipotle to find new suppliers. Once they began locally sourcing ingredients, they began to get constant outbreaks of food poisoning and the like, because as it turns out, locally sourcing fresh produce and meat for a worldwide restaurant chain requires receiving ingredients from hundreds or thousands of different suppliers. The inconsistencies with all the different suppliers makes it impossible to have as good of quality control as other restaurant chains.
@largebills337
Жыл бұрын
@@Medbread Fair enough. There is a definite tradeoff. If you have most of your ingredients come from a gargantuan processing facility you get consistency but lose character. Smaller farms don't have entire QC Departments so you might get some bacteria here and there but the food has flavor. The last time I went to Chipotle (not recent) I remember the food didn't taste like it came out of a can and into a microwave and I'll take a chance on brief illness/stomach discomfort to eat actual food. I think local is better all the way around and the difficulties can be reduced to manageable levels in time.

@@largebills337dude, every time I go to Chipotle in NYC, I get a really bad stomach ache. That's why I don't eat it anymore. Even if the food is delicious. I just don't want to kneel over in pain in the middle of Manhattan.
