@alexdaniel3530
2 жыл бұрын
With 2 outs and down 3, any coach with a brain isn't going to do anything risky with a lead base runner. In that situation, you treat the runner conservatively because you MUST have him score safely to extend the game. It's all risk and no reward being cute on the basepath with that runner. So with that in mind, coupled with the possibility of extra innings, not burning your starter is the call almost any good coach would make.
@uncleleo7637
2 жыл бұрын
@@alexdaniel3530 I'm aware of that, but a fast runner is less likely to be forced at one of the bases than a slower one. In most cases i wouldn' t make that change, but since this was Chipper's last game, it would have been fitting.
@alexdaniel3530

@@uncleleo7637 So let me get this straight. You think it would be "fitting" to pull a super competitive, 18 year starter, first ballot hall of famer out of a winner take-all PLAYOFF game in the bottom of the 9th inning to make a substitution that really doesn't make any sense. When the game is within imagination of winning or at least extending. Just so he can get a standing ovation?? 😳😳
