I'm getting ready to cut down 7 cedars in our backyard, not real big about 8-12 in. at the base. they are right on edge of our hill, and when this place was built the planted that old "Oak vine" I call it and it's almost impossible to get rid of that mess !! it grows up the trees, all along the ground !! so, going to rent mini Yanmar when I cut the trees down, go ahead and dig up the cedar stumps, and clear all those vines off the hill while i'm at it !! and make sure i get it all by the root system so it's gone for good !! I hope !! lololol... Great video Tim... Have a Great Day....

I can smell it from here! Those would make some nice looking boards but I totally get running them through the chipper.

Very strong smelling for sure. These were a tad small to try to mill. I do save anything of size that can be milled and will sell them.

I wonder if any boarding facilities wood be interested in cedar mulch for bedding. I understand that your chipper probably makes smaller chips than you buy in bags but it may be something to look into.

I just rented a bandit wood chipper and was using it for cedar and it kept getting clogged and it was a hassle and wasted so much time trying to get it unclogged each time we would feed it, is that normal for that brand or was it defective and should ask for a refund?

Had nothing to do with the chipper. You can clog any chipper with a chute. It’s all about how u are feeding it with the type tree you are wanting to chip.

@@cotontop3 thanks for the response. The guy at the rental place said because we are using cedar no matter the machine we will always have issues because of the cedar and my guy who was mainly using it has alot of experience and he’s never had this issue so a little confusing

@@cotontop3 I feel like there was definitely something wrong with the chipper because my guy knows what he’s doing when it comes to that. But for the people to say “oh it’s cedar you will always run into that issue” like what? This is a machine built for this. How is cedar going to stop it? I’m not too experienced but he said it was only giving out 2,500 and not the 3,000 that’s it’s supposed to and it would turn off on them over and over. What do you think?
