I’ve been really impressed with Chitubox. Intuitive and exactly as you say, very fast. Added bonus is it works with 3D Connexion mouse. I discovered it by accident when navigating a model, I just instinctively grabbed the 3D mouse and to my surprise, it worked just as it does in Fusion 360. The fact that the model stays in contact with the build plate when rotating is impressive and kinda fun at the same time

I tested out the new version of this the other day (for supports, as I have to use a custom slicer) and you're right, it does rum smooth as, but one major downside I found, is the support functions suck compared to the old ChituDLP. It won't allow you to place supports wherever you want, even if the indicator is green. Seems to mostly be where it would need to place the base of the support on the model, but that's super annoying! The old version would let you place them anywhere! If they can implement the kind of manual support system that exists in MiiCraft, this will definitely be a go to program for supports. cos it definitely does run quicker than most programs I've used.

It all depends on what you want to print. If you're looking at cosplay/replica helmets and larger prints I'd say stick with FDM for now. Seems like a great app, but trying to configure it for an SLA printer (eg. Moai 130) is a beast... the settings are all oriented around LCD/DLP printers :( Means a lot of them don't apply to SLA, and there's some SLA stuff missing (eg. laser power). I do like the style of the supports, but it fails miserably at the auto-generation. Leaves huge chunks of unsupported parts that I have to go manually add additional support to :\ But that seems to be the case with all auto-generators so *le sigh*

@picoelgin8072

You can orient faces on SU by right clicking a white surface, chose "orient face" and click. Should flip all faces to white. That means all normals point outside as they should. If not, you have problems on the inside. Get Solid Inspector 2 from Sketchucation and learn how to use it.

I've had some success using this slicer with my Monoprice MP Mini. I had to do the following. 1) Update the firmware. 2) Export the zip file format. 3) Uncompress the zip file. 4) remove all but the png files from the directory. 5) copy the printersettings file from the pig2.tar.gz file on the microSD card into the directory 6) compress the directory into a tar.gz file. Now, with that being said, sometime I have the following two issues with the Monoprice MP Mini. 1) When I attempt to print the file I get a "printer error" as soon as the print platform attempt to home. 2) After the "Homing" and "Leveling" phases it sits at the "Wait" phase and becomes unresponsive. I can't seem to figure out (yet) what is causing the printer to do this. I would LOVE to hear what solutions you have come up with or any questions you have about the process I attempted to explain here.

Ignore everything I said in the last comment. The best way to use ChiTuBox with the Monoprice MP Mini is to: 1) Update the firmware. 2) Save as a cbddlp or photon file. Both of these file types work with the Monoprice MP Mini ager the firmware is updated.

I like formware but it's too expensive, considering chitubox is free. If formware was 10 or 20 quid for home use, maybe. But at 100, forget about it. So, I agree, chitubox is the best for home use. It lacks some features but it's pretty good. It works in Linux too. Autosport never works well for resin printing. FDM slicers can do it well but resin auto support is poor across the board. It's time consuming and boring. Whoever gets that sorted will take over. Until then, manual supports is just how it will be.

I absolutely HATE ChituBox. Why?? when i save a file and i want to re-open it, it says the file is too large and will only open a small portion of it. Digging a hole in your model almost ALWAYS fails, no matter how deep it is. The undo function is very limited to say the least, most of the time it will take you back to a point you dont want or your model is somehow shifted out of position and undo/redo wont get it back. Limited import/export different filetypes, very limited.
