AUS8 gets a bad rap, but it's quite serviceable for field use. Another good point (you've made this one also)is the fact that you can get a serviceable knife for very little money. There is a lot of trendy nonsense in the knife community. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a custom made knife with exotic steel. But you can get an Old Hickory butcher knife, and a Dexter-Russell belt knife for next to nothing, paired with a saw and an axe, you'll get by pretty well.

I shall change your name. Professor Blade or Blade Professor. Which do you prefer? This video is a fine example of why I subscribed to your Amazing channel. Thank you for the education.

Have you ever used a Grohmann's canadian belt knife, elliptical blade? They are great for game processing. I chose a Knives Of Alaska- Yukon #1 in D2. The design is awesome and very ergonomic in the hand for use. They are really strange looking but get one in your hand and use it and you'll understand.

@@glbwoodsbum2567 You do an excellent job and I enjoy your content, I look forward to more videos. It's great to see someone who actually uses knives, understands geometry is key, and speaks from experience. I'd love to see more blade type comparisons, knives being used side-by-side on specific tasks with demonstration/opinions on which style works best for each task. There's so many inexperienced arm-chair Tubers spouting opinions leading the knife-fan-boys astray with "super-steel" & "unboxing first impressions" nonsense and the like. It's refreshing to find honest down-to-earth presentation. I will definitely recommend your channel. Thank you, blessings ❤️🙏🏻

I live in the Southeast, and don't see too many of them. But I know they have been ubiquitous in the far North, pretty much since they were invented. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. KOA has a great reputation with serious outdoor folk.

Damn near-perfect geometry, the best heat treat out there, and excellent corrosive resistant steel in a 6 inch knife. You're describing the Buck 119 to be the perfect knife! :P
