After my heart surgery I started back with my daughters bow which is a Diamond. I set the pounds at 15 and adjusted the draw length and just increased the weight daily. Within a couple of months I was up to 60 pounds. Today I'm pulling 65 and I'm 61 years of age. I had a valve replaced and a aortic aneurism repaired and they threw in a pacemaker for me as well. You'll feel like a million bucks shortly Just don't push it to hard.

When I got back into archery after being out of archery for several years, I started with a Bowtech Heartbreaker #30 to #40. When I injured my shoulder and was unable to shoot I had take 3 year’s recovery, then post surgery I went back to this bow as soon as my surgeon said I could ease back into archery.

I shoot a 40# bow to protect my shoulder, I have a pse Lazer which shoots very well but I didn’t realize the cable stop would result in a spongy wall. I am now waiting on a specialist 2 from bowtech, ordered because it has a limb stop rather than cable stop. I also ordered lucky stop stops(!) so I could have 2 stops and adjust letoff. This video is the first I have watched which addresses this issue and I hope it is influential in guiding people to limb stops for lower poundage bows. Glad you are doing ok in your recovery, don’t rush!

Lazer should be too spongey surely?
@gordonaddison435

@@liamboyle9199 I can shoot it, it’s a decent bow but the back wall is quite spongy, this is not something I expected and I have not heard it discussed much/ ever but is logical. That’s why I ordered a bow with limb stops instead.

Just bought a Bowtech REALM off a guy on e Bay. I will never buy a bow without at least holding it. At 4.3 pounds bare, it's too heavy for me! I do have a shoulder issue from years back but I can still shoot. I've got a Hoyt Power Max I got at a gun n pawn shop for 100.00! I couldn't resist since I'm left handed and was looking to get a newer bow. I killed a deer my first hunt with it! It weighs 3.8 I believe and wears on my shoulder if I shoot to much. I'm currently shooting a bow I bought 10 years ago and was hoping to find something as cheap as possible that shot good enough for my standards. I found at Cabelas one of their package bows, the Instigator solo cam made by Bow Flex. I shot a big doe the first year hunting with it. It weighs 2 1/2 pounds and shoots quiet and fast at 65 lbs. I may not tell the wife but the new Bowtech purchase has left me a little bummed and being left handed and not as well off as others, selling it or buying something else doesn't seem promising. After 40 years of bowhunting you'd think I'd learned a little something something 🦌🤺

PSE StingerX Very adjustable and a great bow. I keep going back to mine because the grip is very comfortable and I instantly gain 20 points per 600 round. Its the only bow I can reliably robin hood arrows with.... (Not just killing nocks... Im killing arrow shafts)

Stephen may not be able to start at 20lbs, maybe if there was another to use for a brief amount of time to get him to 20lbs, then the stinger from there for a bit.

Just a question if you are a 29 inch draw length, and the bow is 27 inch maximum draw can't a 2 inch long D loop be added?? I know not ideal with centreing and peep sites issues.

What would you recommend for an older guy want to return to archery. 31” draw ,finger shooter low draw weight very adjustable solid back wall would be great. I like solid limbs but not a deal breaker. Shoulder injury has held me back? Look forward to your reply?

So happy you are going to shoot some arrows soon 🏹!👊 I can sell you my bear legit that I bought 3 months ago!💁♂️ been shooting 4x a week since I got it . Did 3 3d homologated tournaments plus our once a week club tournament.. so no I am there. Whent trou a main bow string. Poor technique hitting my arm rest and damaging the string. All solved now .. my bad but hey I am relearning after 27 years off.. 🤷♂️ so now If I keep shooting 400 arrow a week with that bow, next mon I will have to change main strings.... an on and on.. can't afford that. And can't afford the bow I need. It is a struggle when you love a sport and you have to cope with obstacles! Can't wait to see you pull that first arrow mate!❤ cheers to you and your family!🙏👌

Hey steven, why not taking your verdict? Build a gallows with a rope connected to your upper limb pocket, on the other end a counter weight... So you can decrease the physical weight of the bow how ever you want! Good Luck!
