This is pure insanity!!! This woman learnt how to play piano on a spaceship where they programed her brain with technologies unknown to Earthlings. 99.99% of professionally trained classical pianists (including myself) could not play 6 Chopin etudes back to back because our arms hurt too much (on a modern piano which is much heavier than the one Chopin had). I need a 1 hour break after I play the Chopin no. 1 once through in tempo. The fact that she plays so many etudes together means she doesn't have to practice any of them a lot which is just insane. Imagine Usain Bolt doing a 100m, 200m, 400m, 110m hurdles, 4×100m, 4×400 back to back and then finishing off with a marathon. And of course flawlessly winning them all. The saddest part of it is that she probably isn't happy about herself like all people who've reached unimaginable performace levels in any given realm.

The sheer perfection and smoothness of this performance of the Chopin Etudes way surpasses every version I have ever heard, leaving the much-praised Pollini recording (which some say was heavily edited) trailing in the dust. The level of left-hand detail, voicing and articulation, for example in Op.10 No.2, is just astonishing. Ach, despite the enormous difficulties it all sounds just too easy... And then there are the Ligeti Etudes, which are as good as they come. A hugely impressive recital. To perform all these pieces from memory is an Olympic achievement. Bravo !!!
@Barbapippo

"heavily edited" my foot! I've had the chance to listen quite a few concerts of Pollini when he was around forty years old, and I can assure you he was as flawless and fearless as in any of his celebrated DGG records.

Incredible! The 5th finger holds in 2nd iteration in Chopinno.1 I'll never know howthat's done.To play all the Chopin etudes. Your left hand is incredible in2nd etude! No.3 showed taste,musicality. This pianist has it all! No.4 was music not a study. FANTASTIC MUSICIAN!no.7 was a Poeish Gothic nightmare incredible voicing.Phrasing.The highest levels. Incredulous at much here but the music is the only point made. The Ligeti(I have 4 cds)etudes captivate. The no.1 takes even fingers and accents just impossible!

These are so immaculate! You’re able to bring new dimensions into the well-known Chopin etudes, and the Ligeti are some of the best recorded. The crispness in Zauber and polyrhythmic madness in Automne are deeply felt. Your L’escalier is probably the most accurate out there (so many pianists flub the rhythms!) Bravo!!

Such poetry and mastering of the technique don’t go together very often The musical ideas are so beautiful, so is the quality of timbre, the legato, the phrasing… And the hand is connected directly to the soul A marriage that you almost never hear The piano too is wonderfully prepared It does not sound as an equal temperament, rather a very well aural one

Op 25/2 is gorgeous pianistically but not arithmetically. In this performance (as in many others) quarter-note triplets generally support 2+2+2 rather than 3+3 articulation of the eighth-note triplets; Chopin's 3s mean 3 in both hands. More difficult to play than Ligeti's rhythms?!
