Hi guys, FINALLY I've finished editing this crazy project! This is probably the most difficult piece and editing process I've done on C.L Piano. I truly hope my hard work these past few months has paid off, I know there are some tricky sections of this first movement which have some mistakes. My goal in using MIDI to orchestrate the non-tutti sections of this piece and adding reverb to the piano in Logic Pro X is to create a concert hall atmosphere. I hope listening to this, the orchestra will sound as realistic as possible and not editing out the mistakes it will be as close to a real performance as possible. To tell the truth, I had been debating if I should "fix" the mistakes manually, but for one, I cannot do this as the piano part is not a MIDI file, and even if I could, it would be dishonest. So I plan to release another version of this in the future (maybe early 2022) in case I can offer a better performance to my viewers. I hope you don't mind the small visual problems, like the annoying black square which sometimes covers my hand.... I have spent hours and hours editing this video over a few months, and I'm so excited for you to see it in its full form after all those teaser videos :) Second and third movements coming in 2022, along with plenty more big projects! THANK YOU so much for 500 subscribers! I have chosen to hide my subscriber count until a higher number of subscribers, but in just about a week I've gotten to 550 subscribers! So far, I don't have plans for a 1K subscriber special...I will rely on my viewers' suggestions! I will be posting a lot more on this channel, stay tuned 🤩

I feel like Chopin wasn’t exactly the type of pianist who did concertos; rather he was more of a soloist. Therefore this concerto falls somewhat near the bottom of all piano concertos, and his solos, like his Ballades are among the very best of songs. That being said, this is a very beautiful piece, and your interpretation is simply stunning. Very well played… keep up the great work!
@CLPianoMusic
2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Yes, Chopin was very afraid of audiences, and he refused to play in front of more than 300 or so people, most of whom were close friends (of friends, etc.) or relatives. He was often not in great health, and various scholars estimated that he only performed about 30 times in public for concerts. Thank you for your great comment, I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I just got my new LED strip after the old one burnt out, so I'll do some new pieces soon (this video and all the ones before it did not use LEDs but the virtual effects).
@gigaguy1773

While I do agree that Chopin had a shy nature, I would say this concerto suffers a lot of undeserved "hate" from some people, when I believe it's more of a case of "it just didn't age well". Chopin was admittedly a terrible orchestrator, albeit he could make wonders with the piano. Yet critics said that this concerto brought the spirit of Beethoven, who was considered unbeatable as a composer and the finest orchestrator to ever live, to the concerthall. This does sound paradoxical, but Chopin's inability to work with the orchestra made him opt for a clever approach instead of a big and explosive one. In the score, we can observe his smart use of countermelody (specially with the cello), using the flute to create rich colors etc. but now comes the "aging" part. He clearly wrote it with the less resonant orchestra in mind, the less resonant concerthalls in mind and most importantly the less resonant PIANO in mind. At the time, all those intricate elements might have complemented the piano's expressiveness really nicely, but today it's hard for a flute to be heard when there's an instrument the size of a minivan being played in full power in front of it. The solo part is absolutely gorgeous, and the tuttis come just in the right time. While it is true that compared to the great piano concerti (Rachmaninoff's, Tchaikovsky's, Beethoven's, etc.) is relatively underwhelming, it remains an incredibly expressive piece of music, even while making light use of the orchestra. By itself, the E minor concerto is an outstanding musical achievement.

@@gigaguy1773 I enjoyed reading your comment! I agree, I think the piano itself was also different in his time period, but nowadays, even with the more powerful concert grands it is difficult for the piano to come out amongst some of the orchestration (one example is in the final part of mvt. 1). Thanks for the insightful comment, I appreciate 🙏

I gotta say, that was one of the best uses of Spitfire I heard so far. And that is scary. Because up to this point I could always easily spot when an orchestral library was used instead of a real orchestra, but this here is about 90% convincing. It actually sounded way more natural than the electronic piano you are playing. That is a real danger for orchestras. At least in film music.
@CLPianoMusic
Жыл бұрын
Definitely agree. I hope that these orchestral libraries will be used primarily for practical purposes when one lacks the opportunity to perform with an orchestra for recording, and that they will never overtake the natural and beautiful sound of a live performance.

Hi, Very nice piece of work you did there! Congrats! The only input I would give to you is to put the tutti sections a bit louder - they are too soft to my ears compared with the volume of your piano. I have a question for you if I may. You have different midi files on the market that provide the tutti sections for the concerto. Listening to this piece (which should be the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra) is a bit different with the London Symphony Orchestra or others. I am wondering if you are pleased with the quality of the files for training purpose?. I read different things about it. This version is also from 2006 if I am not mistaken and you have other versions where you see the music sheet with score on the screen. I appreciate your feedback. Best

Hey, can you share, how you got the orchestra sound via spitfire? did you have to put in every note yourself or was there a template for Chopin op 11?

I inputted the notes manually without template. But it was a slightly easier task by playing the MIDI in manually, part by part, with my digital piano into Logic Pro.

This is so good and epic. But isn't the violin too loud at the exposition? it's louder than all of the existing recordings.

Thank you for pointing that out :) I'm planning to revise the audio to eventually put on my Spotify, so I will take your suggestion!

Hello 18:18-18:54 I've been practicing these bars for 2 weeks but I've made little progress. How much time did it take you to play it at this tempo?
