orchestrations of high mastery and genius, should be at least famous as Ravel orchestration of Mussorgsky’s pictures

Very interesting indeed! I would usually eschew orchestrated versions of originally piano pieces, but this one is a rare exception. Part One follows . . . kzitem.info/news/bejne/zaak1mirsXiIdpwsi=bsdBkVXyJ6AUcGfb

Chopin goes for piano, and goes for Rubinstein 1946.

For over half a century Artur Rubinstein has been my pianistic hero, and I am a huge fan of his. Yet curiously, I think he didn't care too much about the Chopin Op.28 Preludes. Ar least, he had only left us with a monaural recording of the set.

@@peterchan6082 Chopin etudes was only recorded by Rubinstein a little - and preludes only once. It requires a lot to do more recordings, so he didn't. But Rubinstein 1946 hit Chopin 10000000 times better than the orch.

@kimsahl8555 It's such a shame that Rubinstein was too modest on the 24 Etudes. Otherwise, I think his complete set would've trumped all others just the way he had done with the rest of Chopin.

@@peterchan6082 Rubinstein told us, "I can't play the etudes". That's ok, go for Pollini. The few etudes he recorded show us a poor playing.

Duchable does a terrific job to any Chopin including all the Etudes. A bit cerebral at times but with a tremendous technique. You can find him on my channel.
