I envy those who were/are able to hear this living legend play live. My wife and I have bought tickets to multiple concerts of hers, even traveled to Singapore on one occasion, only to have her cancel at the last minute. I guess we'll have to settle for listening to her recordings. What sets her apart from others is that no matter how many times I listen to her recording, it never fails to move me emotionally. Even though I know what's coming, I always hear a fresh hidden layer in her playing. I don't blame her for the frequent cancellations: she bares her soul every time she's on stage, so if she doesn't feel inspiration, she won't waste your time by giving a formulaic performance.

The best pianist alive (and perhaps ever) performing this. Martha was as good as legend say. Whether or not this is "the best" version is really another question but her technical interpretation is beyond reproach. Notes are crystal clear, tempo is perfect and she does not over peddle. Where I consider the most difficult parts of the piece 4:40 and 6:20 stretch (most mortals slow down) where she maintains her tempo. Bravo.

@renovar Wwis when she goes she goes! Those leggiero passages are outstanding and that speed, with such accuracy and melodoldy in the left hand. The sempre con fuoco is played with such fire 🔥 plus there's chords unspread of 9ths in the left hand (4th line onwards) at that pace is masterful. My favorite is the last 58 bars how she comes down to a pianisamo for the arpeggiated Fmaj7 to Aflat major. Lush!

I personally loved this interpretation and have nothing to criticize about it but I disagree with you. I invite anyone who has observations to share them here, whether they can play it or not. If we followed you logic, there would be no movie critics giving negative reviews because they can't make movies themselves or food critics saying they don't like a certain plate at a restaurant because they can't cook it better themselves. Believe it or not, most people are not professional pianists reknown internationally and thus cannot perform such pieces but still are entitled to their opinions. Just because Martha or anyone else is a genius doesn't make them impervious to constructive criticizm.

4:40 - 4:56 How... did she do that? If only we could hear a live recording of Chopin playing this, to compare who's a better pianist, because Martha is really good! Extremely talented!

I think the fact that there is no recording and only written accounts of chopins playing makes him seem brilliant. I dont doubt that he was, but i bet there ar epianists today that are just as good as he was. Of course, well never know haha

That part is a truly gift. A very special moment in music. Well, the whole piece, all Chopin...
