I find the CB love inexcusable. I will question someone’s character over that.

I understand announcing that a person is a POS, but I still love their music. Finding a male musician that isn't up to fucked up shit & isn't a terrible person, is hard, especially in hip-hop. Sooo- I don't hate people who play his music anyway. If a person defends a single thing & doesn't denounce him as the worst- bail bail bail bail- won't talk to that person again.

@@punkybrewstar83 I understand the concept of “separating the art from the artist” But that has to come with limitations. Once we find out that yes, this person is absolutely problematic and continues to be that way.. at some point we have a choice as potential consumers. Do we still listen to them and give them our dollars? The choice matters. I don’t necessarily write people off for their choice, but it is noted and i proceed with caution.

Same. They're not separating the music from the srtist, they always package the music with the man.

Finally, a voice of reason in this. Chris Brown has been provlematic for ages but nobody buying his albums cares. Chris Brown and Quavo has the potential to go beyond rap though due to both their "affiliations", hopefully it all just peters out, bot a fan of either but don't want any violence over this.

I feel like it has to do with marketing choices. Like, artists whose brand was always 'the bad boy' get a lot of leeway if they actually are, I think it's something about the public almost appreciating that their offstage self aligns with their onstage persona. So I feel old school gangsta rappers, like NWA, were less likely to lose fans if they were to be arrested, even for violent crimes, because it's playing into their onstage persona. I feel like Chris Brown never tried to play the wholesome card, so his blowback was minimal (NOT saying I excuse it and I personally don't listen to his music)

The dude ain't THAT spectacular. What are these folks hanging onto? And people can miss me with the "he's such a great dancer/entertainer" bit. Like there aren't plenty of those. How deprived are y'all?

@@BRIBAN03 you don't have to be. Your last statement is part of the problem. The lack of accountability is why the R. Kellys, Weinste!ns and Cosbys of the world get away with their antics for so long. Meanwhile their victims go uncared-for. As long as y'all faves make new music it's all good I guess 🙃
