No doubt written for his wife, Vicky - His voice is so sweat, soft and tender - yet reveals the great pain he fought against most of his life due to a fragile mind and probably also the divorce of his parents when he was a child - I have nothing but gratitude towards Chris Cornell and all the beauty he brought into this world with both his lyrics and songs - and most importend his tender personality. This song inspired me to a poem. It is written for my best friend and life companion (originally written in danish) You ARE You are the road that I travel Words my mouth speak The heart within me beating Colors painted by my very eyes You are my soul when it shines Life itself touched by my own two hands All the love my heart gives away Light within - until all evil dies

You are the road that I will travel You are the words I write You are the ocean I will swallow You are the wind I ride You are the cause to keep my head up high I will survive You gotta know I'll stay beside you Right till the day I die I don't want to change anymore I've already paid (Said, I've already paid) I don't have to pray anymore Because my soul has been saved And now Whenever I come, whenever I go No, you're never far away, far away Never far away You're the blood that's in my veins You're my second skin, skin I'm a feather on the wind You will bring me in Every heart should have a beat Every night a dream Every king should have a queen Every saint a sin I don't want to change anymore (I don't want to change) I've already paid (Said, I've already paid) I don't have to pray anymore Because my soul has been saved (Been saved) Whenever I come, whenever I go No, you're never far away, far away Never far away When I go hot you make sure I don't break Gimme life inside of heaven's gates, I know (Heaven, heaven) You taught me how to live like [unverified] Gave me definition for the worst I know That there ain't no space between you and me Whenever I come, whenever I go No you're never far away, far away Never far away

What I would like to say instead of judging Chris’s songs against Chris’s songs,, for our brother Chris !! It goes without mentioning if you know, Cornell, if he enjoyed the fnnnnnn song, then you arrogant, you know what!& Then U!enjoy the song…… he has one of the best abilities of getting his ego out of the way. So his spirit Can be heard!! like most of us on a day-to-day basis when the good shhh happens, in my opinion.. Bro Chris,, your every single Push of your breath and every strum of your fingertips and thumbs and played well with others🤔 just saying! continue living on Chris Cornell no more RIP too good to rest just saying! Boss Brown,, and in the most sincere respectful reply, love from my family to Mrs Vick Cornell and the Cornell I dedicated this song to my oldest daughter,

How very sad that he'll miss his babies growing up. Nor to get to sing to his grandchildren. He was a wonderful songwriter, singer, and man.RIP Chris

wow!! didn't know there was a rock version. love it! and I love the pop version too.
I occasionally go out and sing karaoke and very rarely ever hear anyone sing Chris Cornells songs. Well, I am going to try Like a Stone. Sssooo Wish me ALOT OF LUCK!! I'm going to need it.

To think he wrote these beautiful words to her. I MISS YOU CC!
WOW, never have heard this version before- amazing o.0.... or more- this is a normal his solo kind of music, not some weird experiments with pop.... songs with Timbaland aren't bad, even good i think, but should sound more like Cornell style, like this one RIGHT rock version, even not too alternative if prefer so..

Dammit Vicki, let someone work with the rest of the masters. Scream could have been great if any other producer was used. Timbaland was just lazy and didn't even try.

This wouldnt have fit on the album. The original version made more sense in the context. And you can tell that this is basically the Timbaland version with new instruments plugged into the MIDI tracks and not a live band. If Chris was gonna make one of these tracks more like his older sound I think he would've picked the title track anyway.

The "Rock" versions seem too forced and unnatural - which seems funny for me to say given the nature of the originals. They simply lack depth and melody, and are almost pathetic. Almost.
