As successful as they were, and they were incredibly successful, I would argue they were still underrated and underappreciated. They have the whole package there with a great singer, great guitar, duo, thumping bassist, kick ass drummer. That original lineup from 1981-1998 will forever be Queensryche for me. And at least the music always lives on!

The last album with DeGarmo was not classic Queensryche.

Chris DeGarmo was the driving force behind this band (and their interviews), and when he left - they drifted. '82 to '92 Queensryche were their glory days and they would spend the rest of their time trying to recapture that magic. By the time Promised Land came about they got so abstract many fans of their previous work couldn't follow along - I was among them. Promised Land was dark non-rhythmic droning.

Live is harder than taped, and there are not many interviews where they discuss DalBello, Howard Ungerleider, and Jaymz Bee.

They are grade A musicians first, second, and last. Not showmen like Gene Simmons and David Lee Roth. They don't have to be, when the music speaks for itself.

Yeah it really is a shame. And I didn't mind that lineup at all. Q2k was a heavy album. Ah well. We have the albums and the memories...or most of them! I’d take these fellas over metallic any day . This lineup of Queensrÿche were as perfect a band as you could get . The perfect player for the band at each position. The sound they had was completely their own .
