I love how this telling of the story speaks so much to the power of delivery. This telling of the story in so intense and weighty as opposed to the the more silly delivery of the viral stand up clip of him telling it. Reminds me of the version of Bill Burr telling the story of how his dad bought him a doll for Christmas where he teared up. Delivery is truly what makes the greats great.

I believe this story because I worked for two brothers who were like this. Not physically imposing by any means but just extremely aggressive when they weren’t getting their way. They owned a construction company and would always be damn near fist fighting the other trades over stuff. Yelling at the builder and supervisor. Threatening people. It blew my mind to be around Guys like that because you realize that it actually works. Having some teeth will help you get things you want and nobody really hated them they just knew not to mess with them
@bobon123
Жыл бұрын
It does not actually work. It sometimes work, and it depends on the environment. In few environments, and surely construction work is one of those, it can surely work. You can get the best sandwich, or you can get the easiest job assigned, or you can get a better shift. If these are the kind of objectives you have in life, it actually works. But the story also teaches us that the father made time in prison in the past, and there was a 50-50 probability that he would go back again in this case. This does not lead to actual long term achievement. To teach your kid to threaten someone instead of accepting your mistake and take responsibility for it leads to low achievements. You might be the alpha dog, but you will still be a dog. Real long term achievement is obtained with self control.

If you square up to someone or get bristlely better be ready for the consequences of your actions. I'm like what are you talking about, I seriously cant fight for shit, you know this, he's like"that pinched neck technique for defence it's crazy, I was trying to knock you out n you somehow knew, to pinch down ya chin in such a way as to protect ya knock out spot, n then when I tried to choke U out the pinched down chin, was block me from choking U out! @@bobon123 Hearing the story Chris his dad showed self control. Chris described his father that he was calm. In both options his father was willing to take responsibility. The details are important here. It's not an empty thread to get what he wants. He's willing to sacrifice himself knowing full well he will go to prison if he follows through with breaking the knee caps. Not to forget he wants to help the kid that got hit in the head with a chair as well. I think his dad knew the odds the moment he threadend the Principle.

Fall in love is a weird way to put it but I think most guys have at least a few friendships that you’d consider tight, as it is in love. Yes the type of intimacy is different from love with a spouse but if you don’t love your close friends why would you call them friends lol

Youngsters, his father was an old-school man, the type you rarely see anymore. When I first started working at 18, during the 80s, these were the guys still running things in most places, they scared the crap out of me. They were usually World War II or Korean veterans; they'd seen it all. This current generation couldn't handle someone like that for five seconds.

Sure, it's not like kids have been fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 30 years. But yeah, it's an "older generation thing." There's nothing stoic about what gangsters do. They kill and steal. For every mob movie hero, there's a real-life example of one who killed his wife or stole from his own family.

The current generation is the most battle tested, and combat experienced than any other generation in this country's history. Then they came home to find their politicians sold out their country by outsourcing their jobs, decimating the middle class, and destroying the economy where only the rich get richer and the poor never get out of poverty. Wtf are you talking about?

The problem is the fathers who think they're that guy and show up to schools drunk and screaming with no intention to back anything up
@MackNcD
2 жыл бұрын

@@adrenalineunlimited3376 well through text, I’m not gonna assume your meaning because there’s less emoted and it’s more flatly intellectual. And your semantics lead to the conclusion that not being able to back it up was the issue. But ya already painted a picture of dumb belligerence, that’s the problem, if the guy tackles or shoots you too it doesn’t mean that it’s okay. I know what you probably meant, back it up as in they’re real about it, i.e. something like Chris’s dad. But your semantics, like a math equation, = problem is someone can’t back up threats. I have four hours to kill before work, to answer your next question.. lol
@adrenalineunlimited3376
2 жыл бұрын
@@MackNcD I didn't ask a question, you went off on a tangent about some shit I ain't even say. I leave a comment about intent and you're over here going on about ability. You're being overly wordy in an attempt to be or seem intelligent, overthinking what you can and can't glean from text versus in person, when none of that is relevant in the slightest
@MackNcD
2 жыл бұрын
@@adrenalineunlimited3376 It’s not necessarily relevant (emoting vs text) but it’s true. If you had been talking to me in person it might be more clear. The caviet was meant as grace… and I’m not trying to seem “intelligent” (for who?) I’m just being clear. And I said I was going in deep about something silly because I have time to kill anyway, not that it’s a make it’s a make or break point.
