Great to hear Chris sing a John Hartford song. Of course the picking is superb!

I'd never heard Chris sing before so my jaw literally dropped when I heard his voice. There's a kind of smokiness to it and the lyrics were sung with such tenderness and affection (even if he did forget the third verse!) I was truly blown away. Why doesn't he sometimes sing lead for Punch Bros.? He's got the perfect voice!!

Denise Page-DeMorst Saw them at the House of Blues in Dallas and he did sing lead on a cover of Through the Bottom of the Glass. It was fantastic.

Wow! Great to know. We saw them at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA. Great show but no lead singing by Chris.

+Denise Page-DeMorst He's a killer player, and his singing is right up there with his playing! I think he loves singing and playing as much as people love to watch and listen to him!

Tom E Muncey I agree, Tom. I was so fortunate to see the him and the band play live in Solana Beach at the Belly Up Tavern. It was a religious experience! :-)

Such a great musician. Super nice guy too. I got to pick with him after a show he played in my hometown. He'll treat anybody like a friend.

Has anyone tried to transcribe the intro he does here? I’m slowly working through it by ear but it’s kind of a beast!

The verse he forgot, if anybody cares: "Well, he comes from a real old time way of life/He had to fight just to learn how/He might even have voted for Nixon once/But I'm sure he sees that now/Friday night he makes the best damn gumbo you'd ever want to eat/Saturday morning before everyone's up/He's gone off down to the fleet ... I believe it may have been temperance reel, but the fact that I can't put a finger on it for sure means he's doing some incredible improv! Haha
