Tommy Caldwell is the best climber in the world. He, too, has climbed 5.15, as well as sending numerous 5.14 trad lines, as well as bouldering v13, as well as freeing El Cap twice in a day!! Tommy is amazing at everything--Chris is only amazing at one style of climbing. Tommy excels at them all, and his climbed just as hard sport as Chris.

Fair point. I reckon it's all opinion though ay. I prefer a dynamic climbing style vs static. Big, wide, powerful moves to bigger holds. It's more fun =P. As Chris proves, you don't need to look static and smooth to be the best climber in the world =) Just be physically AND mentally strong, precise, determined, persistant and in some 'Sharma' cases... Stoned.. lol

you doubt i was there? you walk in, to the right is the counter, to the left is the gym itself, you walk maybe 10 feet in more and to the right is the mens/womens locker rooms with a unisex single bathroom, there are stairs past there leadin up to a little cafe and yoga/aux room, there are 2 bouldering rocks in the gym with a wall on the east side above which are a couple machines to get big on (nbd), a roped wall on the south side..... still doubtful?

climbing isn't important to him. he can say what he wants but we can't make him care about climbing. there are people who love climbing but don't even know who kobe or lebron are. we can't make people care about climbing just like they can't make us care about basketball. hell part of the fun of climbing (for me) is that the community is relatively small but because of that everyone's really friendly. a larger community would ruin that.

honestly, Sharma comparitively has bad techniaue than other climbers. true, he is strong. very, very strong. but, if you watch him climb, he is not smooth. his feet pop a lot. he relies on his arms much more than his feet. I'm not discrediting him, but if you compare sharma to, for example, ramon julian, there's a great difference in style. watch the two videos of them doing La Rampla and you'll see what I mean.

Many state that Chris is the best there is. That's a pretty boastful statement. Climbing is not just sport. I can tell you that trad is so much harder than sport--you place your own gear on lead, have to be good at placing gear or risk death. Sending 6,000 feet of climbing on El Cap in a day is most likely the greatest climbing accomplishment in the past 10 years. Sport doesn't involve that at all. No disrespect to Chris.
