This is the quality of music that defies genre. You can label it 'country' if you want but I find that it goes beyond that. It's just raw, organic, pure beauty in a musical form. I'm not the biggest 'country' fan, but if 'country' keeps bringing us artists like Chris Stapleton, it will have much more of my attention.

Mvtthew Cvrlson, Steve Vai, Malmsteen etc can shred a million notes a minute but Stapleton can play 10 and make you weep. He strips away the unessential and when he whispers you strain to listen while the likes of Vai just think louder and more must be better. Two entirely different musical philosophies and approaches. Stapletons music is like a Sumi Painting, Vais is like endless graffiti on a railroad car.
