Oh really dude? Black metal is a genre about rebellion against comservative values, a search to find the truth in yourself, in case you don't know. Black metal is all about yourself and your freedom from everything that this society of mindless sheeps considers "liberating". A journey to your inner darkness, where you are reborn into it and break free from the prisons of "hope", "weakness", "ignorance" and "tolerance". That's the biggest thing christians who claim to be "black metal" don't understand. That with their stupid pathetic values they go against what black metal is meant to be. Spiritual devotion to an abrahamist "god" and having absolutely no will to be what you want are two things that don't combine with the nature of black metal. Black metal is also about shocking the sleeping idiots and proving them that their meek ignorance will not be there for much longer. Just look at the photos and the actions of the true bands (not those of the edgy posers). Take then another look to photos of christian "black metal" bands. Don't they look like cartoons? Especially one which reminds me of Tom & Jerry. Moreover, christian bands forget that black metal is an elitistic genre, meant only for those who understand its obscure beauty, where "new" and "trendy" things have NO place to exist. A genre that won't conform to the mainstream and become "tolerable" and "accessible" because some retards want it. A genre truly evil, where everything is about staying anti-mainstream, grim and cvlt, not being a "rockstar" and making crap for the brainless masses. And last, if you still don't believe me, take a listen to your typical "unblack" metal band and tell me if it's evil at all. And then, listen to bands who know what they're doing (Satanic Warmaster, Sargeist, Watain, Rotting Christ, Drakon Ho Megas, Dissection, Horna, Gorgoroth). Compare those two things and see who does the job!

I grew up as a youth group kid with an affinity for underground/extreme music. Also grew up way out in the country. The atmosphere/tonality of black metal always came off as very spiritual and of nature to me. I still haven't heard anything quite like Extol's "Undeceived", (more blackened death, but there's still black metal element there), Lengsel's "Solace", Horde's "Hellig Usvart", or Antestor's "Martyrium", Crimson Moonlight's "The Covenant Progress", or Sanctifica's "Spirit of Purity" from the other side of the spectrum. That's not to say I haven't heard anything good from the "darker" side, Lord knows there's plenty of good material and albums there, but the aforementioned bands approached the genre with a reverence and love, and it translates directly into the music. Maybe "Christian black metal"'s not your thing, cool...but using the whole "Christianity had to use the devil" thing is an equally lame inverse of the "rock 'n' roll is devil music" argument. My two cents.
@christianmetaldreamur3491

Bruh Extol is so awesome!!! Also Frost like Ashes is a really cool Christian Black Metal band to add to the list! Their album Tophet is my favorite of theirs so far. And the lyrics talking about Gods wrath are definitely not for the faint of heart! Also, I kinda think of when Paul in the bible said that he would become like the people he was preaching to in order to win some over. Not by sinning with them of course, but in other ways. That is basically how I see christian black metal and kinda explains what they are straw manning as "having to use the devil".

@@georgeednie7723 I dont think christian metal is the devils music. If I was using metal with satanic lyrics, then that would be the devils music, obviously. Correctly done chrsitian metal is singing a Godly message, how can that belong to the devil? If someone made music in the same style as gospel music, and the lyrics was glorfying Satan, I would definitely not call it Gods music, but devils music. How could I call that God's music?! No way man!!! Case in point, who's music it is is mainly dependent on the message of the lyrics, not the style. Different styles can help reach different people better, and move them to start looking to God. And it does! Look at the fruit of it like the bible says to do instead of judging on appearances: - There have been satanists and others that came to Jesus because the gospel was presented to them through something that they would actually listen to, where they would not have listened to gospel style or a preacher in a suit. There a plenty of testimonies of God reaching people that way, so who are we to limit God? - For me, I have always believed in God, but the style really helped me deal with my emotions in a healthier way and got me excited enough about him to have the motovation to reading my bible more like I wanted to so that he could start bringing me closer to him. Before, I could only get myself to read it like once a month, but then I was able to get myself to read it almost every day. And man, God has done so much in my life, I cannot thank him enough for how good he has been to me. And I hope I can help others find his love too. God is the one who drew me to him, but even things like christian metal can be used by him as part of how he reaches people. And if the fruits are good then how can we say its from Satan unless the bible specifically says its bad? Does the bible specifically say cerain ways of playing music is bad? No, it says to make a loud noise unto the Lord and play skillfully the stringed instrument!

I don't understand what's confusing for these guys. Black metal is a sound not an ideology or religious stance. Some Christians like the BM sound but not necessarily the lyrics. They keep the sound but replace the lyrical content. Calling it Christian Black Metal simply denotes and indicates what the lyrical content might be about. What's the big deal and why is that so hard to understand?
@Abarataphoto
9 жыл бұрын
SDMF20 Black Metal is actually more a lyric content than a sound. 1st wave band Venom played something that sounded nothing like modern day BM, but is still considered BM because of the lyric content and satanic image. BM was born from getting evil ideas and putting them into music, again, Venom played NWOBHM and is still recognized as a BM band, because they were extreme.
@SDMF20
9 жыл бұрын
***** Maybe that was once the case but one thing does not have to mean the same forever does it? Most BM musicians today care much more about music than lyrical content. I say BM these days are more about sound than lyrical content, feel free to disagree but that's how i see it. I mean, listen to old Enslaved for example. They considered themselves black metal and justifiably so given their sound. So were they not black metal just because they wrote about vikings and Odin?
@Abarataphoto
9 жыл бұрын
SDMF20 BM since the 2nd wave began to have a more clearly defined sounding, but even the bands that weren't singing about Satan and whatnot, would choose some lyrics that could be seen as "evil" by the common people (misanthropy, nihilism, suicide, national socialism, etc.), so black metal was always sort of "evil". For example, Post-Black Metal is called "Post" because it really isn't BM, just uses some of the musical characteristics from the 2nd wave. About Enslaved I think they were always as BM as Bathory's "Hammerheart" Era, musicwise very close to what became the BM sounding, but lyrically very far, that's why most people consider them a Viking Metal band and not really a BM one. Obviously this is my take on BM, on how I see/feel it, and you or anyone else can disagree with me ;)

If a person is Christian and he wants to express his personal beliefs and his own spirituality through music he can do it in any way and of course without asking anyone. Black metal is a kind of music that you can express yourself, your opinions, your view of life and cosmos and many many more other things. There is black metal about satanism, about science, universe, paganism, lovecraft, literature, war, society, politics, personal thoughts and of course about religion as well (for example Antestor, for whom Hellhammer played drums ;) ). We're not in 1991! Black metal evolves in its lyrical themes and in its musical composition. A Christian bm album can be so good lyrically and musically like a usual bm album but with a different approach of the spirituality of the person/band that makes the album. In the end of the day, if you don't like it don't listen to it. Let people express themselves through music!

I for one think Christian Black Metal is a fantastic idea. Let me explain it to you, it's very simple. Some people are Christians but happen to like the music and tonality of Black Metal however they don't feel comfortable listening to the pro-satan lyrics. Besides patience and tolerance are very important. If Christians want to play Black Metal let them. They are not doing you any harm by playing music. It's a genre of music an art form, NOT a life choice. Worship whoever you want and listen to whatever you want. By making Christian Black Metal all they have done is expand the genre and made it MORE inclusive.
@acidagethrash

***** It can hardly be called inclusive when everyone is going bat shit crazy because some people who believe something different to us are being insulted for playing it. If anything it's fascist. That needs to change. If Christians wanna play black metal let them, the more BM bands the better I say

You are actually clueless. You clearly did not read my fucking reply assclown.I never mentioned ANY government. People need to stop treating the term "elitist" like it's some sort of insult. After all, at the end of the day.... those that have been accused of elitism are the ones that keep these genres alive when the hip crowd have moved on to the next trend they feel the need to gentrify, homogenize, and destroy.
@Spunkalish

waratthewarfield Hip crowd? Since when was christian black metal "hip"? If anything they're going against the grain, I'd say more people like black metal than christian black metal. Metal fans are no different from the rest of society, despite what they like to think. They're not rebelling against anything, they have the same character flaws as everybody else.

people who think theres no problem with mixing christianity and black metal, they obviously havent done research on the history of black metal and its origins. if they even bothered to watch a doc on it, like "Pure Fucking Mayhem" - their minds would understand and change their views on it, i guarantee. its not just a "style of music", for black metal musicians its a _life_ style. Look at mayhem's former member "maniac", cutting on stage, i wanna see a christian do that. please, if they even have the balls to do that

thats no the misunderstanding, the misunderstanding is that they play a genre meant and brought up in the basis of satan and evil messages, lol and the fact that christians are playing under an evil genre is a contradiction to their religion, regardless of the lyrics they chose to put int heir music. its like going against homosexuality and then going off and having a gay orgy. theyre like hypocrites playing that genre. and i guarantee you that even a preacher would think christian black metal is insane and an insult to the religion, at least a preacher that knows the history of black metal

+Quiet Thunder Wtf?! No, Black metal is the genre of Satan, not "genre" is the music of Satan you fucking mong. Satan pre-dates Christianity, Satan's earliest form is in Sumerian "mythology" as Tiamat, there is even a Satan in Zoroastrianism. Either way, your statement is false. There was a Satan in Judaism you fucking spaz and Judaism pre-dates fucking Christianity. Please stop spreading your stupidity.
@lokilaufeyson276
8 жыл бұрын
Quiet Thunder Hahaha, you're a fucking mong. Look at you trying to cover it up, you said Satan is a Christian figure and inferred that Christianity was where Satan originated from. It's a bold and ignorant statement you just made, I was once like you, ignorant, telling people Satan doesn't exist, saying Odin was one of the true Gods. Please, go back to bumming off Burzum and Varg Vikernes and going under the delusion that Black metal is the music of Odin.
@lokilaufeyson276
8 жыл бұрын
Have you even heard of Enki or Ea Quiet Thunder? The later image of the Devil was made by Christian theologians to demonize Pan and the Horned Gods, the actual Lucifer is a mixture of many things. His name based off the Roman Goddess', Venus, title "Lucifer", translated "Light Bearer". The ones who said Euronymous' never worshipped Satan were the same person who said they hold no grudge against Varg, everyone's fucking afraid of the bastard. Even if he didn't worship Satan he wrote lyrics about fucking Satan, not Odin! Therefore making second wave Black metal (originally) about the Devil and making it the Devil's music, whether you fucking like it or not. Sure, Quothorn did turn to more Nordic themes with his lyrics but he wasn't the one who fucking created Black metal. He helped revolutionize it, but never created it, Venom created it and they said their lyrics were about fucking Satan. Therefore making it the music of Satan and the Devil whether you fucking like it or not! Grow the fuck up you inbred shit house! Stop throwing a fucking hissy fit just because this music genre doesn't line up with your ideologies and religion.

The first ever 🎸🎻🎺🥁📯musical instrument manufacturing WISDOM came from the GOD OF ISRAEL✝️✡️🕎, the CREATOR ONLY GOD.... in ancient times the KING DAVID👑 is the only one who got the MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MANUFACTURING WISDOM...and this era’s modern musical instruments came to this new world 🌍through David’s WISDOM (King David was the strong powerful servant of almighty GOD) so it is clearly evident that MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS came to this world from GOD GIVEN WISDOM ,so even if somebody uses these wisdom of musical instruments ,they should EITHER PRAISE ALMIGHTY GOD or OTHERWISE AVOID BLASPHEMY..... I mean that If you want to do a blasphemic music then why are these black metals satanic lyrisict using GOD given musical instruments shamefully without any gratitude towards GOD..... If you are a religious person whose faith belongs to the abrahamic religions, and you enjoy extreme music such as black metal, just listen to some metal bands with milder, less extreme subjects or whatever, but you can't blend black metal with christianity, its contradicting. Lots of music genres come with a sertain ideology and black metal since its roots is anti-religious, especially when it comes to christianity, which ruined many great aspects of the European culture. Black metal is about the dark side of life, and beyond life itself, since many bm bands have dived into the occult, while others have decided to follow the ways of their ancestors before the christians came.

@Gauntlet1985

Nomen Oblitus Not true, you say that as if a certain genre/style of music is defined by one single message and it can only be evil lyrics in black metal. That would be like saying, country music can only be about riding on tractor's in the fields plowing the land. Or heavy metal can only be about having sex and doing drugs. See the point here...? Black metal is really simply a form/style within heavy metal. Who ever said black metal had to be limited to one single subject matter.
@NEKROLAVS451
9 жыл бұрын
+MrZombieIsHungry Black metal just like many other music genres is accompanied by a mindset, of course it can not be limited to one single subject but it's idiotic for a black metal band to be christian or for example a punk band to be fascist. It's like a lamb that wants to join a wolf pack, or a person of african heritage who wants to join a nazi party. Like I said, it contradicting because it simply doesn't belong to the idea of black metal.
@hardToSignUpHere

+Nomen Oblitus I guess it is something like that, but why not a Nazi Punk? In fact such exists, just google! One thing, you cannot compare Na.Sozialisten to Christianity - the former is quite futile in that the theory behind it is quite shaky , while the latter is a major religion with billions of followers.
@NEKROLAVS451
8 жыл бұрын
+hardToSignUpHere I know, and its stupid because the mindset of punk is all about the freedom of expression and rebellion, and nazis as you know aren't very supportive of these things. I don't like political stuff in my music in general, just as I don't like boneheads playing oi punk I dont like ignorant anarchists playing hc punk etc. And yea this comparison was just a simple example I didn't think much about it.
