Africans can't convert to a religion they created. Christianity was started by African Hebrews in the part of the world which was African at the time the religion was created. The bible talks of mizraim (kemet, Egypt), Abyssinia (Ethiopia), kush, punt, Canaan (Palestine), all of which are in Africa. Judaism was started by the Egyptian high priest Moses, a black Hebrew. We can't convert to our own religion. For your information, the 10 lost tribes of Israel are in Africa ( the bible says when Jesus comes back, the lost tribes will come from beyond the rivers if Ethiopia). Get your facts right

As an Ethiopian, I aim to present evidence that Orthodox Christianity existed in Africa long before Europe. The Ethiopian Bible, the world's oldest and most comprehensive, was written on goat skin in the early Ge'ez language, making it the first illustrated Christian Bible globally. Approximately 800 years older than the King James Version, it contains 81-88 books compared to the KJV's 66, incorporating texts omitted by the KJV, such as Enoch, Esdras, Buruch, and three Books of Maccabee. Another piece of evidence is King Ezana, who ruled the kingdom of Aksum from AD 330 to 356. He commemorated victories on stone tablets, with many standing obelisks in Aksum serving as enduring witnesses to Ethiopia's early embrace of Orthodox Christianity. A third piece of evidence lies in Ethiopia's mention 40 times throughout the Bible, as well as references in the Quran and Homer's Odyssey. Aksum claims to be the final resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, holding the 10 commandments God gave to Moses. Numerous other pieces of evidence exist for those seeking the truth. Gratitude is extended to the insightful Nigerian brother and all truth-seekers worldwide. God bless all.

Christianity was present in Africa, long before colonization; gospel of Thomas & gospel of Mary and many other gospels were found nearby nag Hammadi, Egypt, possibly written in 70 to 90 AD to the latest 140 AD; and African nation was a strong nation back in time during Rome including Egypt, was not the subject for colonization by Western countries; also, Jesus is a first messiah, delivering a teaching of having one God for all, from slave to King, women to men, the poor and ill to the rich and well, all equally can go to Heaven, Kingdom of God if you believe in Jesus and God, He never taught a teaching of racism, but I do agree that certain individual, including a Pastor and Priest who used Christanity for wrong reasons and for oppression and abuse of power to commit sins but that is not the teachings of what Jesus taught us and these men are a product of evil sprits; in the Bible, blasphemy is an unforgettable sin, and no matter if he is a King, or a Priest, if he used the name of God for wrong reasons, his sins will not get forgiven according to Bible; also, the early Christanity is all about showing forgiveness, mercy, and love for one another, just like how Jesus lived his life to save others and he died in the cross for saving all of us, and how he spent all of his power and life to show love and mercy to the most vulnerable people; today's Bible is not really purely representing the early Christanity since religions have been used for abuse of power and authority; but Christanity itself is the one; regardless our color of skin, our background, God and Jesus chose us to be the one; you are powerful, you are beautiful, and you are brave and stronger than anyone because God is within us, that is the true teaching of Jesus, and he does not see any difference between a white man and a black man. You are all children of God.

Colonialism sure did push their version of "Christianity" on the continents. Deus is a singular word, but its plural is deii. In latin words that end in us for singular have a plural that ends in I. Thats why the plural for octopus is octopi.

Well his argument was that the slaves weren’t introduced to Christianity by europeans when they were. So I’d say that’s pretty relevant. Idk the history of the Bible being pushed down slaves throats other than a lot of the whites justifications for slavery and their behavior was supported by the bible and their take on Christianity. Maybe they did believe they could save if not the lives, the souls of these poor heathen less than human in their eyes. Maybe their intentions were noble, but I doubt it. It was probably about control and protecting their bottom dollar. Or maybe they were backward zealots and thought that it was the right thing to do and that they were obligated to spread the word. It’s complicated. But the slaves brought to America weren’t Christian’s before Europeans came down the west coast of Africa.

Christianity started in Armenia, you are wrong!!! Ethiopia was the second country to adopt Christianity in 325 A.D. But it was Emperor Constantine who made a decree at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. and also making Christianity legal in 313 A.D. with the Edict of Milan. Constantine was converted to Christianity in 312 A.D. long before Ethiopia adopted Christianity. Also, the kingdom of Aksum was at war with the kingdom of Kush during this time, and Kush was also at war with the Persian empire which was expanding in the east

If it was in Africa before... then why did some people convert to it? Of course Christianity was in Africa before Europeans had it... Some were Muslim or even Jewish.

Christianity in Ethiopia was introduced by the Byzantine Empire merchants which are Turkish Europeans. And, it is ancient Roman culture that transformed into something else

This kind of feels disingenuous. Sure you can say Christianity was in Africa. However, that was only part of Africa. For most sub Saharan countries Christianity was introduced by Europeans. Africa is not one country. And when most people talk about Africans, they mean sub-Saharan Africans, to whom Christianity was introduced by Europeans missionaries Saying the Ethiopian bible is older than the King James version is also misleading in the given context. Sure the Ethiopian bible is pretty old. But it's predated by some other manuscripts. Moreover most Christians (including African Christians) don't use the Ethiopian bible. That would be akin to calling the bible the Torah simply because it had similar passages of scripture. Or even calling the Koran a Bible because it contains similar passages of scripture. I hate the victim mentality that blames everything on the "others". However don't start confusing your history. Do not pretend it's something it wasn't.

The Ethiopian church held its own distinct religious customs and a unique canon of the Bible. Therefore, the Ethiopian church community is globally unique in that it wasn't Christianised through European missionaries, but was highly independent and itself spread missionaries throughout the rest of Africa prior to European Christians contact with the continent. But yeah, some part of Africa was Christianized by Europeans and thats not a bad thing. Just like the Church having Filipino missionaries in Africa at present.

@@Slit-dl6gl I can agree with that. It's just that it feels like he's doing the very thing he's implying the Europeans did. Conveniently skipping over the parts that don't support his argument. And that's problematic.

I agree with him that Christianity is not a white European religion. Its just so happen that Europeans were also Christianized and they, being advanced race, made it easier to Christianize the entire world. For that, kudos to the white race.

@@Slit-dl6gl I'm going to assume you meant advanced civilization. That said Christianity as we know it today is predominantly a White European religion. All the major denominations are domiciled in Europe or other predominantly white counties. Sure other people and races participate but all decisions and doctrines are dictated in Europe. The Ethiopian Christian church makes up less than 2.5% of all Christian denominations. But more importantly the speaker seems to imply that the Christian religion was already being practiced all over Africa by the time European missionaries got to sub Saharan Africa. Which isn't true.

This is false. Not here to argue with anyone but for everybody’s knowledge for our religion. Christianity was adopted by Armenia and the Armenian people in 301 AD. It was the Armenian people that spread Christianity to the world, including Ethiopia in 400 AD. Armenia was Christian 100 years before. Again love to all on the planet not here to upset anyone. Just giving you facts.

Just because you adopt it as your state religion at a specific time, doesn't mean large amounts of people weren't already accepting Christianity before the government got on board officially. Nice try though.
