Kristelle Beauboeuf well, even gospel is done with the intention of making a $$ buck $$. So if they in that same ‘money making’ racket they going to produce songs that will sound good to the ear so people will buy their music, no different from the secular music business!!! We can’t have it both ways and criticize those believers who occasionally listen to secular music. Music, whether secular or Christian is basically done so the artist and everyone involved can earn a living from doing it. Nuttin wrong wit dat. We say Christian music is done for the glory of God, but it still gets marketed and promoted like secular music

Loriane well, when I’m in church listening to whomever is presenting and performing the music, even I don’t like the song or it’s melody or it sounds a bit campy if you will, I always tell myself, this is for God and his glory not for me, then I find myself singing along with them. You need to understand, music is an art form and with any type of art there going to be people who like it or dislike based on its artistic nature.

Can Christian read secular books? How about secular KZitem channels? Tv shows? I see that we can benefit from understanding the world. Gaining knowledge of the world helps us to go through this. And honestly, if we don't speak about music/tv/book which contains blasphemy or other obviously immoral content, I don't mind too much. If we keep in mind which and who is the Truth, and why we are here, I think we can't go wrong too much. If we stick to God and prayer, we can still do other things. Strong faith will not shake because of reading literature or watching some youtube. Even listening to non-Christian music. Understanding other views and ideas can help us to be more kind, learn about the world and ourselves, build character towards better. But during a fast, I find it extremely important not to fill oneself with youtube, tv and other things. Sometimes coming back to basics is needed, and fasting times are there for a reason. During these times, you should focus only on God and developing yourself, and forget about all worldly life. It helps to build faith, gives faith a base that will not be shaken easily. I would also like to read this as an answer to the question: Matthew 15:10-11: 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (NIV)

But I agree Jon. If the material in any way distracts one from his Lord, one should immediately stop and get rid of all those things. For me, being politically active has been important for some time. I have been engaged in organizations that try to stop militarism and bring peace. I've done research for them and worked to get a world with lesser guns. It is not religious, it's secular things, but I do it because I don't want that anyone or anything created by Lord will be destroyed. I don't want the hate and controversy that guns and militarism promotes. Do you get what I mean? I read secular books to get better idea of the history or present day. But because I view them through my religious world view, it doesn't affect my faith - sometimes it even makes it stronger. I also work hard to be strong in prayer and fast, and this is why nothing in the secular world can make me change my beliefs.
@darthvader6533

@@sc-iu1tq not to attack your beliefs, or make what you worked for irrelevant, but we need guns. Peace through strength is really the only option in this world. If the world was full of only good people, yes, but its not, and the bad guys dont want peace, if we lose our defense they will slaughter us like cattle. I don't know were you live, but here in the US we need our guns. The thing about war is demilitarization isn't the answer to peace, if a country has a massive military, others dont want to attack them. Speak softly and cary a big stick is really the onky peace this world will ever see. Peace is what we want, but it will not come about from getting rid of guns, just look at some of the contries that dont have guns, when the bad guy gets a gun(which they always will) the good guys have nothing to stop them with. Evil people will use anything to accomplish thier goal, England banned guns, they now have the highest knifing rating in the world. If you have a gun, but everyone else around you has a gun, your not going to want to attack anyone.

Sometimes I see biblical messages in music where the artist might not have intended them. My favorite song, Bridge Over Troubled Water, is the first person perspective of someone saying that they’re there for someone else. I think God could be easily plugged in there, because in many ways God is a bridge over troubled water for us. Take this with caution, however, because sometimes this isn’t fully applicable

If a Christian listening to secular music isn't okay. Then talking too or having non Christian friends is bad then too. I feel like if the music is making you re-think your faith in God then maybe it's a problem. I don't think there is a problem with it. Sure their are situations where it's obvious that's it wrong. Like if you listen to a group that claims things against God. I listen to some pretty heavy metal music and never once lost faith in our Lord. BTW, Andy Mineo is actual fire. Love his music.

Mankind is created in the image of God. Also “heaven” is just the presence of God. The reason there is a heaven and earth now is because of the separation. There may very well be animals when things are restored. But animals today do not follow laws and are creatures of instinct. They were created for us as food and pets and enjoyment. Like the birds singing in nature all created just for us and the varieties of nuts and fruits and vegetables etc really shows how much God loves us. He created this world just for us and that is amazing. Please study and don’t assume all “Christian” groups are pleasing to God because the Bible really warns against division. I love to study and answer questions. All questions are answered with Gods word and what I think means very little. Bibleauthority777@yahoo.com

If I do listen to some secular it's very selective and I certainly don't listen to modern day mainstream..... too corrupted with Illuminati agenda(watch a lot of these pop videos nowadays like Katy Perry, it's loaded with satanic imagery). "But how do we know that people who created Christian music also love God?".... simple: they're saved Christians who serve Jesus, most secular artists aren't and have sold out to Satan/the Illuminati for fame and will be a heavy influence on mainstream culture/youth. Christian music is not popular in the secular mainstream world or with most people including some Christians lol and is being ignored.... hmm, I wonder why? Secular pushes worldliness on the masses and tries to keep focus on ourselves instead of God's Kingdom in Heaven, Christian music keeps everything God focused and putting all our treasures in Heaven and not this temporary world..... the differences are night and day. Secular music is mostly entertainment, Christian is worship and all about praising the Lord.... I don't see the secular world doing that. When's the last time you heard Casting Crowns Only Jesus playing in a grocery store or mall while you're shopping? I sure haven't. I'm sure you've heard plenty of Katy Perry or Beyoncé/Miley Cyrus/Ariana Grande/Taylor Swift/Britney Spears/Lady Gaga playing in stores..... all are Illuminati sell outs as well and being pushed on the youth/adults with no sign of Jesus anywhere. Do you see what's going on here? If Christian artists didn't love God they wouldn't have done Christian music in the first place and could've easily taken their talents and sold out to the mainstream secular music world and gain the whole world..... yet they didn't. Like Jesus, they resisted the Devil's offer. Sorry for the long post but It takes time to explain all this.

@@austinwillcut4919 believe me there's some songs I don't listen to because of the way they make me feel when I hear it. Honestly you don't even have to be a serious Christian to know that most of the music on tv is awful lol 😂🤣 I mean you got girls walking around half naked and talking about sex and dancing in a sexual way. And I just recently started learning about the illuminati, so I know what you mean. But some Christians say don't even listen to some of the new Christian music we have today because people are saying even though its about God it still sounds too much like secular music. And some people can listen to all types music without letting it affect them but not everyone can. So just like this guy said in the video, we have to look out for others

Great thought provoking questions! Ultimately everything we do must glorify God, thus is it wise for me and for those around me? How will my actions affect another brother or sister in Christ? Great reminder that everything we do is not too please ourselves but ultimately the Lord!

1 John 2:15-17 KJV Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. James 4:4 KJV Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Amen for those verses, and the Greek word for "love" here is "agape", so we ought not to love it like we love God, but that is something else. Money is NOT the root of all evil. The love for it is. If people like you were consistent with your logic, you would have to cut off your internet and throw away the computer. If you do not get that, you have not stopped sinning. I too believe in sinless perfection, but that also involves not involving laws when there aren't any (Colossians 2:20-23)

Isn't this the TRUTH- the truth hurts and no one wants to hear it. Its not constructive to listen to secular music. We cannot copy the world. God gives us knowledge wisdom and intelligence and the inspiration to make new content and make new music. The devil copies GOD. God does not copy the devil. When we are hungry we GOD to GOD to fill the desire and needs of being filled. We get our SOUL food and quench of hunger to be filled with GOD from GODs work and prayer. We don't go to the world to satisfy our hunger or thirst. We go to GOD. People teach things and GOD should be in every aspect of your life. God is not found in secular music. Secular music is inspired from satan. Satan was one of the best musicians in heaven. He knows how to get in to people and he uses music to do it. Satan didn't stop being stupid and I am not giving him praise. But he knows what he is doing and one of his biggest influences to do it, is music. There are children who have committed suicide because of the music that they listen to its a proven fact. There are families who have suicide heavy metal bands and have contributed it to there children listen to it and driving them to commit suicide. So, I am not apologetic to say that the answer is NO. We as Christians should not listen to secular music but we ought to pray for those who do and ask GOD to enlighten them on the subject.

Technically all music is secular because music is entertainment and not inherently good or evil even quote "satanist music" in the end it's all to entertain it's all fiction and thus should be treated as such. Take the message in and decide if it's for you if not then dont listen to it. But don't knock others for it.

That depends, beloved sister. It is merely a label. Beethoven is "secular", yet more for the glory of God than a lot of "Christian" music is. Philippians 4:8 is the main criteria for music. I used to be into grunge, heavy metal, techno, rap etc. but God led me out of it.

I dont know that all music you listen to needs to be GROWING your faith per say. Just not damaging it. If it all needed to grow your faith then it wouldnt be wise to partake in neutral activities for entertainment such as snowboarding either. Or have neutral conversations. Of course all of our music shouldnt be neutral. But I don't think neutral music is bad
