So beautiful ! I had to sing an excerpt of the chorus for an audition and now I can't get it out if my head!!it's hypnotizing and alluring!

Loved this production the first time I saw it one Saturday afternoon on SBS and Kozena is a babe...Even as a man...you can see I'm feeling a little confused right now. Damn you Simon Rattle!

Gluck in this Orpheus and Eurydice did not shy away from the charm of the dark, made of so many veils of mist. Nevertheless in these feelings the subtleties of the affections are manifested, mixed of love and pain.

A strange version - especially what the orchestra concerns! I thought Gluck was a bit far from the standard repertoire of Ochestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique? Nevertheless, it sounds well, undoubtly because Gluck was quite ahead of his own time!

Fine singing. Terrible HIP playing. Intro to chorus starts at 4:35.

Apologies, but what does HIP play refer to?

@@Herman6507 Hello. I shouldn't obsess about this! HIP means Historically Informed Performance. Here, or so it seems to me, the attempt to make the music sound as it would (allegedly) have sounded in the 18th century has led to inarticulate phrasing and hence a less than thoroughly satisfying musical experience. Don't bother to reply. Nobody seems to share my prejudice and I won't mention it again.
