I didn't know that Chris Atkins is a very interesting man. He has the pleasant personality, typical of the people in Connecticut. I was prejudice about blue lagoon and I thought he and Brooke Sheild were just a beautiful pair that I had not watch the movie. At that point in life, I was more interested in serious movie and bypassed the popular ones. Now I have a lot of catching up. Too bad we hear a lot of dark stories about Hollywood but I believe the real stories of the actors are more interesting than the movies they played. They are not only bless with good looks but interesting personality too.

wow! i remember watching Blue Lagoon as a kid, i always wanted to be the young handsome Richard becoming a Robinson Crusoe type character on my own desert island, and what a stunning looking lad, blond and tanned, and to be that age working with the just as amazing young brook Shields - it was a great film its a real treat to see Atkins after all these years, reminiscing on his career, such a full one too, and he is so enthusiastic about everything, good on him, i really like the format of this interview too, its a real change to see an actor giving way more information than is being asked for, love the Linda Gray story, i guess with his experience way back filming Blue Lagoon must have given him the skills to become a very open man and honest man i must try and find The Pirate Movie! sounds awesome

@@davidl570 it must have been very mellow and perhaps didn’t even get the equivalent rating here in NL. My mum would’ve otherwise not have allowed to see it. She wasn’t a strict parent (like most 80s parents) but she did curate what we were allowed to watch. lol! Around that same time I was allowed to babysit my little brother and the exorcist or the shining (can’t remember which of the two) were on and I watched this as they were at the neighbors for a party. I was so scared I didn’t dare to go upstairs. So I shouted till my little brother came down. And he joined me (falling asleep next to me). Till my parents came home. She was so furious with me 🤣”Big brother”, you mean “Big irresponsible!” She shouted 🤣and instead of pity I found a stern lesson about how I wasn’t allowed to watch certain things and why that was 😂 My little brother is no longer there but it’s still a running gag how little brother baby say big brother because he didn’t dare to go or be alone anymore 😂

Blue Lagoon was one of my all-time favorite movies! Over the years, I have watched it dozens of times. I love the underwater scenes so much that I read the film's credits to see where it was filmed and saw where it was done--in Fiji, and which islands. I HAD to got there, so flew to Fiji and took a small cruise ship that toured those waters. At that time. (and maybe even still, I don't know), people could not get on those islands without getting permission from the various island Chiefs. A very clever Australian made a deal with the various Chiefs and they made a company where the Australian and the Chiefs shared the money that they earned from taking tourists on these boats, tours these seas. So I got to swim in those glorious Blue Lagoon waters! By now in my life I have travelled to countless foreign places, but still Fiji and the Blue Lagoon waters still remain the most wonderful and beautiful place I have ever seen. I didn't want to leave! It was so wonderful to read this great interview to see that Christopher Atkins is really as admirable a person in real life as he has in his movies. From reading this review and hearing him talk about how important his being a father is, my mind thought back to the movie when the couple had a baby. There was that scene where Christopher, sitting up on a hill "at watch" for a rescue ship to come, sees his wife and the baby in a pond and with love and admiration, says to his wife, "You taught him to swim!" and then comes down to get in the water to play with and hold his maybe. That hearfelt moment in the movie was really Christopher as he really is.
