Hey there, thank you for all the free content you put out here, I'm learning A TON from you! I've been playing only for a week and I've started exploring the higher notes (just for fun). I can play up to the high F# if I start from the high C#, but I cannot play high E, high F or high F# from a dead start.... Is this normal? Are there any tips you can give to help me overcome this, or is this mainly an experience thing?

Hey SuperPooper! Thanks! So glad the videos are helping you improve! Always super glad to hear comments like yours! Yes, it is very normal to struggle playing the palm notes from a dead start. And that’s ok. I’d practice a lot slurring making sure the sound is nice and vibrant up to the F#( which tends to close up a lot). I would slur in semitones C# to D quarter notes, then D to D# and so on. Two notes at the time. Then slowly start introducing a tongue-slurred articulation. This way you are working on opening the “channel” of air so these notes open. If you need more help feel free to book a free discovery call with me where we can talk about your playing, identify your struggles and make a plan to achieve your desire goals app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=14146512 Let me know how it goes 😀🤣🎷

@@LondonSaxophoneSchool Nice! It means I've been practising somewhat the right way. I'm not sure what you mean by tongue-slurred articulation though... Thank you so much for your advice. I would totally book a call with you to learn more but I'd feel bad, since I likely won't be buying courses anytime soon. I will gladly support your KZitem videos through likes/sharing with friends though, the information you put out is amazing!

Tongue-slurred= just think of a long note separated by a very soft touch by the tongue so, even when tonguing, notes are connected. No worries. You can still book the call. There’s no pressure to buy if you don’t want😀🤣

Thanks for the video Martino. You mention using the metronome which which I know is a key tool but I am not sure that as a beginner I do use it effectively. Have you done a video on practicing with a metronome?

Ermias! Nice to read your comment! I haven’t done a video on how to play with the metronome. It’s a very good topic and will put it in my list and do a video on it soon. How is everything going?

@@LondonSaxophoneSchool Will look out for the video. Signing up to the LSS has been one of my best decisions ever. Processing really well under @manubrazo. Would be nice to come in sometime and play with others. Fingers crossed that will be soon enough 🤞

Do you practice the chromatic scale on all keys ?
@LondonSaxophoneSchool

There’s only one chromatic scale regardless of the starting note 😀
