I know someone who is suffering their third round of hospital stays and finally coming to the understanding that she has CHS. She has found it difficult to stay away from the heavy weed smoking sothe symptoms keep returning. The intense vomiting, need to take hot showers several times a day, and the general misery and acute pain that comes along with this Syndrome. It is a daily struggle. I am trying to help her and her boyfriend to accept and understand the real dangers associated with this affliction. Dehydration and Kidney Failure are real and have been known to happen. There have been fatalities linked to CHS. But there is hope, stopping the weed altogether will always see the subsiding of symptoms, as the OP in these videos confirms and discovers along his journey and struggle. This is very real and very painful. Anyone with a Family member or friend who is suffering with this needs your help and support. Patience, love and understanding go a long way in helping them to understand they can beat this and return to a normal life. My Prayers for out to all who are afflicted with this and who are suffering with breaking the cycle. Stick close to those around you who may need that helping hand. Just spend time with them initially and distract them from the almost constant thoughts of packing a bowl one more time, or "in moderation". Distraction will help the psychological component of this affliction until they form new coping mechanisms and their thought patterns steer away from taking a hit. Join the battle and help people recover.

Thank you so much for sharing your story man. I got diagnosed 3 days ago and have since ceased cannabis use despite being a chronic user for a decade. You’re story is so relatable it’s crazy. Hope you’re doing well, let’s get through this shit together. I’m glad to see there’s a community of people suffering and it’s not just me because I’d never heard of this syndrome before. Thanks for spreading awareness and hope

You are a great human being. I am on my 3rd day now without smoking.. getting better, at least I’m not sleeping on the bathroom floor now. One thing you talked about that I haven’t seen anyone else talk about is that heart racing anxiety feeling when you wake up! I definitely got that every time I woke up before I puked. This is also the worst thing I have ever been thru in my life. I swear I honestly thought I was dying. I cannot wait to eat normally again. I can’t wait to be able to go out and have fun and smile and feel great. Hot showers did not, and do not help for some reason. I haven’t seen anybody else say it didn’t help for them either. It’s weird. I live in a house full of smokers, a family full of smokers. I feel jealous. Jealous that I can’t smoke and feel great like I was able to for years. Jealous that they can. Anyway, I’m on video 1 and I plan to watch the rest, it helps so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! You just don’t know how much this helps

i’m on my 8th round of CHS, and never understood why because my family’s cannabis is all homegrown. so i never understood. but then i realize I use a metal nectar collector. Everytime I have gone to the hospital nobody, has ever found anything. I can definitely say that after watching all your videos, Weed is out the picture. My sickness get to the point that I can barely ever straighten my back. I also got diagnosed with pesticide poisoning, and a kidney infection.

PLEASE HELP I've gotten high from marijuana multiple times daily for over a year and I have severe abdominal pain, but I have not experienced nausea or vomiting vomiting. The abdominal pain usually completely goes away when I'm in a hot bath, but it will come back as soon as I get out. The pain will extend to me chest and back sometimes and often seems to hurt more on my right side.. My digestive system seems to not be working properly, and I am experiencing chronic diarrhea, bloating, and sometimes constipation. I've been to the ER multiple times and nobody find anything wrong with me. I've researched everything it could be in an attempt to self-diagnose and I've concluded that I could have cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome without the nausea and vomiting. Any insight from someone more knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated

Hey man, I would love to talk with you more about this and maybe compare symptoms. I haven't been formally diagnosed, so it's still sort of just speculation, but I've been off cannabis for the past 4 days just in case and have been feeling exactly the same as you with the depression and anxiety & constant searching of my symptoms on google. So I can hella empathize with you on that. I was also wondering, in between your 2 episodes while you continued to smoke, did you have any symptom-free intervals? Or did you constantly feel nauseous/wake up with nausea after your first initial ER visit when you would smoke?
@thechsjournal3734
5 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm definitely open to share. Basically between the two episodes I had like 2-2.5 ish months of being "symptom free" while i was still smoking but they weren't TRULY symptom free. I just didn't realize what I was experiencing were symptoms of anything. During that in-between time period, I definitely was still waking up each and every single morning feeling anxiety causing my heart to race and feeling super nauseous in the mornings. Also during that time I was getting wayyyyy more into concentrates and edibles than before. I would consider calling out of work or skipping class if they were early in the morning usually because i felt so sick most of the time.. but would feel fine after a few hours of being awake. At those times though I just assumed that I was feeling that way cause i would smoke down all night long and then EAT. I eat everything when I'm high. Often times I would eat bigass meals of junk like mcdonalds or tacobell and all that shitty shit right before I actually went to bed. So when I woke up like that I would just kinda be like "Damn I gotta stop eating all this bullshit so late at night". That probably did add to the nausea don't get me wrong, but NOW I realize i was writing it off as a symptom of the wrong thing. Be super careful about what google tells you though cause that can make it seem way scarier than it needs to be. Alot of my panic attacks started because I'd be reading symptoms of like Lymphoma and cancers and all kinds of crazy shit and be like whoa I have alot of those symptoms too, maybe thats whats wrong with me. It's hard for me to know what I'm being rational or irrational about so its honestly best to ignore webMD and just talk to a doc honestly about whats going on. Instead just try to maybe keep a personal log of what you feel on a daily basis and what makes you feel better or worse and then whenever you next see a doctor, read it to them. The more information they have the easier for them to figure you out. I seriously hope your anxiety and depression get better cause I know its super hard to deal with. Feel free to keep in contact if it helps, I'm always here for support :)

@@thechsjournal3734 I am going to copy/paste my story that I posted on another person's video. I think a good bit of it relates to your story, especially the anxiety symptoms early in the morning. ALSO my diet was totally the same. I'd often skip breakfast and even lunch sometimes only to eat something like MCDONALDS right before smoking and going to bed.. Give me a sec, I'm going to paste my story below this. Thank you so much btw.

Hey! I'm sort of in the same predicament. 3 months ago, I went to the ER 3 times in one week due to nausea that was so bad that I forced myself to throw up with my fingers. No abdominal pain really, just an uncomfortable/queasy feeling. I was pumped with fluids and the docs insisted it might be CHS bc I smoke everyday many times a day and have since I was around 14 (i'm 20 now). My blood tests were normal I believe, but I had elevated white blood count + high CO2 from hyperventilating. While I was actually in the ER those times, I didn't throw up at all.. Only while I was at home. The nausea meds + anti-anxiety (Ativan) helped almost immediately. A few days after that ER trip, I continued smoking my usual amount, almost a whole pack of woods a day everyday..(ik, it's not good anyway lol) and I was completely fine.. No nausea in the morning, nothing. Completely asymptomatic. Last week or so, from 11/26-12/02 I went to the ER 3 separate times again for the same situation.. Waking up early in the morning with severe nausea that felt egged on by anxiety, but no intractable vomiting.. I again had to MAKE myself throw up, and that wouldn't make the nausea go away on either occasion. Later in the day though, I always ended up feeling better. On my 3rd trip to the ER this time around, they admitted me and did an endoscopy to find I had gastritis. I know gastritis can be a result of severe anxiety, so I want to believe that's what it is. I'm taking protonix which is for the gastritis. I haven't smoked since 12/01 and I am still waking up feeling slightly nauseous and anxious quite early in the morning (between 5am-7am) with a bit of an indigestion-type stomach ache. I also feel like I should add, hot showers and baths don't seem to give me relief and I don't find myself resorting to them when I'm feeling this way. Especially not compulsively. Sometimes heat makes me MORE uncomfortable. I'm wondering if I may have CHS, just not as severe yet... I wish doctors knew more about it and were able to actually test for this.

Another thing I should add, the "episodes" have pretty much only occurred right before a stressful situation like starting a new semester of college or starting a new job. And my diet isn't very good. I tend to skip breakfast and sometimes even lunch and then eat fast food when my boyfriend gets off of work which is around 10pm, then we smoke and I go right to sleep.. which can't be very good for my body either and could also play a part in my early morning symptoms.. UGH I wish I had answers :/ but for now, I am taking a break as the docs and everyone else have suggested.
@thechsjournal3734

Wow what you're saying actually is like scary how similar we are both experiencing our symptoms. As well as the lifestyle pattern. I would skip breakfast everyday because I just felt nauseous in the mornings from what I assumed to be my own fault form the night before, and then continue on to usually skip lunch as well only to have fast food or whatever for dinner. At that point I would pretty much smoke and eat my junk food and go to sleep and repeat the process. So yeah I was mostly having like one main meal a day which was late at night and with unhealthy choices just cause fast food is so easy to just pick up. Stress plays a huge role in it for me as well, my first episode occured right in the middle of the process of me trying to move between apartments out of state and that was extremely stressful. This episode I've been in my first year of starting college classes myself so I do wonder how much of a role our stress is playing with out symptoms. It's a little reassuring to know I'm not the only one who is on that pattern experiencing the same thing. My doctor suggested I had gastritis and Protonix is what he gave me for that due to thinking the acid build up inside my stomach caused by my severe anxiety was causing inflammation of my stomach lining. All my labs came out fine (whatever labs they ran at least) with the minor fluctuations being a slightly higher prescence of WBC count and i guess something about like leukocytes escaping in my urine or something??? I can't completely remember what they were saying about it.I just remember them reassuring me that was due to dehydration. Also I am actually more with you on the hot shower thing. While Most CHS patients show compulsive showering like 14 times a day and even calling relatives and shit for showers.. thats crazy to me. I definitely don't crave the hot showers nearly as bad as some of these people seem to. I've kinda always treated hot showers as a sense of nausea relief since I was a young kid and so usually when I lay in the shower/bath, symptoms are alleviated to an extent but not absolutely. And just like you say, sometimes my symptoms remain despite being in the hot shower. So I'm not sure what thats about honestly. I hate the lack of research in this field because it makes me that much more paranoid of what could be going on inside my body but hopefully we can figure it out. I'll keep updating even if I start to feel better and let you know what doctors continue to test me for and what kind of results they find. Our stories are so crazy similar it blows my mind so I definitely would like to keep in touch and see how you're doing throughout this time too. Thanks so much for your input because it actually helps me as well.

I think she shouldn't quit cold turkey because of her prolonged use. But she should definitely lower the amount of marijuana she smokes everytime she smokes. She should also lower the amount of times a day or week she smokes. Also hot showers and capsicum cream rubbed on the stomach can relieve the pain but the only way for her to feel normal again is to stop all together

Thcv could’ve saved you. I tried it when symptoms started and the cycles stopped pretty quickly. I haven’t seen a Reddit on it but I think I might make a post about it. Thcv blocks receptors instead of agonizing them, I’m not sure the exact science as no one is, but I tried this while reading about pharmacology and it stopped the vomiting very quickly. Thcv will not get you high but it does have peripheral effects.
