Chuck Garric and Calico Cooper of Beastö Blancö: The Next Album Will See Us Veering Off the Dirt Road!
Beastö Blancö is a theatrical and larger-than-life rock band composed of Chuck Garric [guitar/lead vocals], Calico Cooper [lead vocals], Brother Latham [guitar], Jan LeGrow [bass], and Sean Sellers [drums].
Last month, the band released the first single, "Run for Your Life," from their upcoming album. The song has been met with critical acclaim due to its straight-ahead rock approach laced with melody and aggression! The video also sees the band step away from their desert rock vibe and take them into outer space as outlaws, reminiscent of the characters in their 2022 graphic novel, Beastö Blancö: Spacewave Conquests.
To date Beastö Blancö have released three studio albums, Live Fast Die Loud [2013], Beastö Blancö [2016], and We Are [2019]. Their songs yield a powerful combination of crunchy guitar riffs, driving bass, growling vocals, and melodic choruses. They have the unique approach of turning pure angst into an irreverent celebration of all things dark and malevolent while pushing the boundaries of hard rock and heavy metal. They are a highly entertaining and visual band flying the flag for theatrical heavy metal.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Chuck Garric and Calico Cooper to discuss what fans can expect from their upcoming album, a US tour in the works that will fit around Alice Cooper's touring schedule, how Calico transforms from her soft-spoken nature to a bat-wielding maniac on stage, and rationale for what determines who will take lead vocals on their songs!
