I was into it for a while.. but leaning not upon my own understanding, I must say there's still something we're missing that makes it all make sense. @@cba4389 , You don't understand the nature of praying. It's not simply a question of predestination. Prayer serves more purposes than simply asking for an outcome. In the Bible, we see examples of prayers of repentance, where God relents, or allows more time. Did God know that a certain person would pray? Of course. The prayer, and repentance was for the benefit of the person praying; Not for God, who has need of nothing. Prayer ALWAYS benefits the one doing the praying, as well as possibly the one who is the subject of the prayers. We always pray for God's will to be done, however; we pray that God's will, would be in favor of the prayer request. Multiple people praying in favor of a particular outcome carries much sway with God, and mature Christians understand how to pray in alignment with God's will. Frivolous prayers serve no purpose. Praying for money, for instance, when your personality, or maturity cannot handle the responsibility of having money, is almost always a prayer that God will not honor, any more than a child wanting candy and cake instead of a wholesome meal. No loving parent would forgo the proper meal and just feed their child sweets, unless it was to teach a lesson. How much more so with God. That's how the Jews ended up with King Saul as their first King. They wanted the eye-candy of Saul, and not whom God would have chosen. They paid for it with a severely flawed man as king. Afterwards, God put David on the throne, who was a far better King, and the ancestor of Jesus; The King of Kings.

I would have loved to hear his biblical perspective on the matter.

so I assume that a sphere viewed from a 2 dimensional perspective is not a circle? The point is that viewed from space at a distance, the Earth appears to be a circle, correct? And no where does the Bible state that the Earth is Flat. At the time that the Bible was written, the ancient world already had realized that the Earth was a sphere, and that the planets revolved around the Sun. They Caldeans for example were very advanced in their understanding- It is said that Abraham was partly responsible for teaching the Egyptians what the Caldeans had determined about the movements and patterns of the planets.

I disagree with Chuck. Right before that in, Is. 40:21, it says the foundations of the earth. Job says its suspended on nothing. Most everyone assumes it's a floating ball. A cup on a table is suspended on nothing. It has pillars 1Sam. 2:8. It's a footstool for God. It has corners Isaiah 11:12. The Sun stood still, Joshua 10:12,13. Isaiah 38:8 the sun went backward. And on an on. If studying God's word so much you would figure they wouldn't believe that lie. Just thinking now what else is a lie? Believing what man says against scripture is dangerous. Had someone say the cross didn't mean anything. When 28 scriptures say different. Being ignorant of scripture over one thing, leads to many. No one is perfect for sure, but remember scripture is absolutely perfect. That's why it's a command to study and meditate daily on it. To get it in a born again believer. That's why it's important to back up any thinking with scripture most that say one thing they think is true couldn't remember a scripture verse. Then laugh which is mocking at someone believing in what scripture absolutely says is true. These last days are perilous times to be deceived and cause doubt of God's word or just being willingly ignorant. The ones who don't believe scripture are the ones in a strong delusion God has sent. It's pure demons possession in these last days.

@8:05 - Our speaker and Academia in general teach how the Mickelson v Morley experiment debunked the presence of aether. I disagree with their interpretation of the experiments 'data' and ultimately the conclusions reached. Both beams of light arriving simultaneously proved what? : Where's Earths rotational velocity? One of these two beams worked much harder to reach the detector than the other - so where is the spin if they arrive together? This never gets discussed. Our discovering that aether has zero impact upon the speed of light moving through it, equally explains what the experiment proved.

I can not, of course, prove or disprove the existence of an intelligent creator. It is very interesting when you consider some of the astronomical coincidences, if you consider them coincidences, that make our universe and reality what it is. Percise values that just happen to be perfectly tuned to make life possible and so on. It would seem to point to a design and a designer. Having said that, I'm always a bit suspicious of anyone who points to the mysterys of reality that we do not yet understand, and there are many, and attempts to call them the work of God. People have been doing this since the dawn of existence and we've seen time and again that theology and science are rarely in agreement. Not that science can replace religion or spirituality, I just don't think that fundamentally God, if indeed there be a God, could be understood through science or science understood through God.

He’s just cherry-picking small problems and difficulties in modern astronomy, problems that are known or were known and since resolved, and he harps upon them in an effort to throw the whole field into disrepute. It’s fundamentally unfair and anti-intellectual. He points out problems that were solved decades ago, but never admits they were solved. For example the formation of planets. He puts forward the reasons why the planets cannot have emerged from the central star. That’s an hypothesis for planet formation that survived until maybe 1960, now known to be wrong - stars and planets develop together, condensing out of interstellar molecular clouds. This is observed to happen. Star and planet formation science has moved on. There are some new problems, for example how do tiny dust grains combine to make meter-sized asteroids that can then grow to planetoids? That’s a current problem, but he uses a problem in an obsolete old hypothesis to throw shade on the entire scientific enterprise, because he wants his bible to be true. He wants his bible to be true because it promises him eternal salvation, and he’s willing to discredit all of science to make it so.

I read the book “Alien Encounters,” by Chuck Missler and Mark Eastman and it was fantastically researched. This however, was disappointing. He is really behind on the science of gravity waves. They were discovered several years ago by the LIGO instruments. And he doesn’t understand red shifts at all. I hope he isn’t allowed to teach kids. I must agree with him on one point he made, “There is only one certain barrier to truth-the conviction that you already have it.” It’s a sad thought, but I suspect he may have hit that barrier.
@robertramsey653
9 ай бұрын
This talk was given many years before the ligo detection, and even if the red shift theory is right, it's still a theory because it cant be proven. There are glitches with the red shift theory, like two stars that are thought to be close together having 2 very different redshifts. I've seen more than 1 or 2 people show that the red shift could very well be quantified with a map of the stars. It seems they tend to cluster in the same red shift, while thinning out inbetween. Most of what science would have us believe is nothing more than theory, they just want us to believe THEIR theory. How many theories over the centuries have been changed or thrown out altogether that they knew at the time was true? There is no difference today. The big bang theory has been modified many times, and will probably be modified again to suit whatever need arises. This man Chuck Missler is one of the most intelligent people I've ever heard in my life, and I'm guessing you dont know much about him, or you may not have said what you said. If there is anything in this system which might appear probable to you, keep your admiration for the source of such perfect order, for the wisdom of God. Grand phenomena do not strike us the less when we have discovered something of their wonderful mechanism. Is it otherwise here? At all events let us prefer the simplicity of faith to the demonstrations of reason. (Nine Homilies on the Hexameron, 10) 4th Century Clement of Rome: the Creator, long-suffering, merciful, the sustainer, the benefactor, ordaining love of men, counselling purity, immortal and making immortal, incomparable, dwelling in the souls of the good, that cannot be contained and yet is contained, who has fixed the great world as a centre in space, who has spread out the heavens and solidified the earth (Homily II, Ch XLV) 1st Century Cyril of Jerusalem: the earth, which bears the same proportion to the heaven as the center to the whole circumference of a wheel, for the earth is no more than this in comparison with the heaven: consider then that this first heaven which is seen is less than the second, and the second than the third, for so far Scripture has named them…” (Catechetical Lectures, VI, 3) 4th Century Athenagoras: to Him is for us to know who stretched out and vaulted the heavens, and fixed the earth in its place like a center (Why the Christians do not Offer Sacrifices, Ch XIII) 2nd Century The Bible Way to Heaven - kzitem.info/news/bejne/wJeklmiikKZ4g6Q&feature=emb_title

Thankyou for sharing that, what a treat. I was there sitting in the pews, this was the last time I ever saw Chuck Missler in person. Went to his Monday night studies 1980 to around 1984. I would have followed him to Idaho and New Zealand If I could. Miss him so much. Miss so many wonderful teachers that are in the Lord now. Someday we will all see them again.

Missler is a great Old Testament teacher. He is very technically inclined. He fails to recognize there are two Gospels in the KJV. The Gospel of the Kingdom. MMLJ, and the Gospel of Grace Romans to Philemon.

So many facts nobody else preaches, because pastors have become professionals isolated from reality.

Your comment is so perfect, JRRodriguez! But...But this is why I don't enjoy going to church. bEcause the average paster in any town or city DOESN'T PREACH LIKE Missler, Heiser, Washer or even like the great preacher of Leesburg's Cavalry church or like the great pastors of yesteryear, or how many pastors are bible scholars who understand science or philosophy. We need pastors who are not specialists, but are educated in many fields of truth.

Missler is unique in his interests, orientation and background. You may have some prejudices about pastors, but not many have nor can articulate what his studies have shown him. I guess Matthew, Mark, James and Paul would also have disappointed you. Can't we Christians compliment some pastors without denigrating others? Sadly, nonbelievers see this. What do you think their takeaway is?

@@writerdeman There's an interest disconnect between how men like James and Paul said we ought speak about pastors and how they actually did. There was certainly a lot of friction between Paul and Peter and James. Paul called Peter a hypocrite. In the meantime, while Christ had few harsh words against all manner of sinners; His condemnations of the pastors of His day was both frequent and scathing. If you would read writings from the time of the Reformation, you would discover my tone and words are mild compared to what those godly men wrote. So I prefer to do as they did, which was to be manly and honest; rather than the effeminate limp wristed modern Churchianity. There ARE pastors that while I may disagree with here and there, do NOT disappoint. John McArthur, James White, Voddie etc and if you listen to them speak about OTHER modern pastors again, I am quite mild. Missler spoke his mind. He was honest, learned and godly. That at times he left orbit, just as Mars did not (pun intended) does NOT mean he disappoints me as a whole. The typical pastor of Laodicea ascendant makes Christ vomit...yet you fret that I am manly of speech. This why women ought cover their heads and remain silent in Chuch, asking their own HUSBANDS (not the pastor) to explain to them. Tomorrow at my house, Bible study on textual criticism. One of the MANY subjects pastors don't preach that they ought.

The simulation hypothesis posits that everything we experience was coded by an intelligent being, and we are part of that computer code. But we cannot accurately reproduce natural laws with computer simulations. I mean if you want to say that science is now a religion and not based on imperical evidence, that is true, but a digital simulation would imply that the very breath of Life is not that. I do believe the Bible is correct about the shadow of a greater reality. But to say that the entirety of creation is a digital simulation is also something that would not be met by empirical fact. His own logic would disprove that. As far as relativity, and the laws of nature, we have just barely scratched the surface and only know what God has revealed to us. the part about states of matter is true though which would imply that it is not digital at all. There are a lot of hits and misses in this.

Every time I try to find a point in the sermons of Chuck Missler, and I'm still not getting it. It seams to me that he talked a lot on strange things without making a case to reason about. Honestly I'm disappointed. I also heard him talking about an event that caused Mars to be near to the earth, that's a crazy theory like flat earth... Be careful brethren! I'm still open to consider some of his speech but I'm honestly concerned. Give me your thoughts.

You should listen to it again.with a little different expectation, that's what I had to do. You will be blessed in doing so. He bible studies are very indepth and meant to be for the purpose of not missing anything, since that is what God has given him the capacity and will to do. This isn't meant to be the usual bible study. Not sure if I described that right, maybe others can expound on this.

He made a covenant with Abraham to make of him a great nation. That nation was realised. God and HIS word should be part of all things, including laws, and the leaders who apply those laws.
