These guys are the whole reason that Metallica even exists. According to Lars, he went to Europe and found himself somehow invited into the studio to hang out with Motorhead. Motorhead is british slang for a "speed demon," some who abuses Amphetamines. And yes, they did. Also, Lemmy was a treasure. “I got hold of my son, I found out he was doing cocaine,” Lemmy lamented. “I said, ‘Look, coke’s all right, but speed’s better. I don’t mind you doing coke. If you ever do smack and I find out, I’ll kill you. Because I’d rather have that on my conscience than watch you die slowly.’”

0:53 The word you may be looking for is _rough._ Lemmy's voice is rough. Decades of smoke, hard liquor, sleeplessness, and english damp is what we're hearing there. And this video was when he was still relatively young, his voice only got uglier and more beautiful as he aged. He left us not long after Bowie. Even gods' times come to an end. The end of the age of gods. A bleakness takes me often these days. The great ones are abandoning the earth (or if you prefer, returning to the earth), as we all must, yes, but there seemed to be new great ones to pick up the lost great ones' work, to an extent, for a while. We lose a Jim Morrison and gain a Trent Reznor. We lose an Otis Redding and gain a Prince. The losses were painful, but tempered by the gains. We lose a Johnny Cash and gain a... We lose a David Bowie and gain... We lose Lemmy... The Abbotts... Peter Steele... Eddie Van Halen... The bleakness sets in about now. No one's coming up after these have gone down. The great ones are leaving and we're stuck here with nobody like them. The art that sustained our connection to the light is diminishing... Or I don't understand what is coming up in their steads. Or I've isolated too much to see them, and don't know what I'm missing. Or I'm too grieved to care. Too grieved to care is a _terrible_ place to try to live. Watching new people find the old stuff I love and also fall in love with it is a great solace to me. Lex is a joy this way. Brad's reserved, but open. I'm glad I'm subscribed.

According to Lemmy himself, Motörhead wouldn’t exist without Little Richard. He was Lemmy’s musical hero.

Funny story I always tell when Motorhead comes up. I ran into Lemmy one time in Vegas, and as we metal-heads all know, Ace of Spades is their most famous song. The funny part is that when I saw him sitting there, he was on a slot machine, not a card table like you would think since AOS is about playing cards. LOL Anyway, he realized I saw him and he just looked at me while I looked at him. After a min of staring at each other, I figured it was getting awkward so I nodded, he nodded back and I went on about my business and he continued playing slots LOL RIP Lemmy

Lemmy does indeed have a ‘chunky’ voice with ‘bumps along the road’. One of the best definitions of Lemmy’s singing style I’ve heard in ages! Love these reactions, seem them coming.

I seen Motorohead live 6 times and they were one of the best bands I ever seen. Ace of Spades is the first song I ever heard from them. Classic! \m/ If you like WWE, check out Triple H's theme song by them called The Game.

His voice is gravelly. When I was little I liked this song a lot. When he says don’t forget the joker, I thought he said and don’t forget to choke her, lol.
