Desford is a village to the west of Leicester. It is in the Hinckley District of the Leicester Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers. The church was built in the late 13th and 14th centuries. It was restored and extended in 1884, and the porch was added in 1920 to remember the fallen in the First World War.
The ringing room is accessed via a ladder and a trap door in the floor, which the ringer of the 3 has to stand on. The ringing room is a cosy fit!
The tower also has a clock which is thought to date to the 1630s/1640s. It is still hand wound and has to be wound every third day.
More details on the bells can be found here: dove.cccbr.org...
Note on the ringing:
The recording is taken from a quarter peal of Grandsire Doubles, rung to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. bb.ringingworl...
