Stacey E false. Besides a select few movies, most gun nerds hate Hollywood and their portrayal of gun usage. It's unrealistic, and very far fetched. People who take these classes and want to be armed citizens, they don't fantasize about poor drawstroke, terrible aim, and non-commanding grip of the firearm. John Wick just happens to be one of the few movies that has limited all three.

Yeah I still carry at the dmv and anywhere I can get away with it (except a bar unless it's only for a couple beers after work) if there's a guard with a metal detector i don't lol. I'd rather go to jail for a year than die. Period. I'm in IL where a stupid little sticker on a door is enough to ban your gun. Still carry. That's why it's concealed. Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Father Bob knows I'm armed. He knows what I did in the military. He knows where I sit. There's 2 active cops and a fed that go to my mass. We all have talked and have a few plans we hope we never need. The other 2 Sunday masses have at least one armed dude I go at 930 bc they take the kids away for bible study halfway through. We are spread out. And we have a response plan based on which door (there's 2 on each side except the side with the Tabernacle) including who grabs the priests. We are fast approaching a time when things will get worse in churches. I recommend people get together. Only ones that should know are other sheep dogs and the priest. Priest can tell whoever they agree to let carry who the others are. You don't want church goers knowing. It worries some people knowing a guy with a gun is next to them

I always carry at church. And I always sit in the back row in an isle chair. I never thought my town would be the victim of a church shooting, but a couple years ago a pastor was gunned down in the parking lot after service. Fortunately he lived and is fine now, and the guy is behind bars. A few months ago MY church had a suicidal veteran waving a gun around in the parking lot by the children’s church, the sheriff volunteers in the nursery and kept them safe while the swat team handled the veteran. It’s crazy how violent our country has become

Lots of people believe concealed carry is illegal in Church in Texas, but this isn't true - any given church is REQUIRED to post a 30.06 sign to stop concealed carry. If we read the rest of the carry statute we find out it's not a blanket ban - specifically section i states that section b(6) doesn't apply without a valid 30.06 sign. I carry in Church and if my Church were to post 30.06 (in addition to the 30.07 which they do post), I would find a new congregation. Great video as always.

The shooter was Dishonorably Discharged and could not legally possess a firearm. So no new gun laws will correct this situation. In fact this proves gun laws only serve to keep good people from protecting themselves and their family. I heard a rancher across the street at the gas station got his ranch rifle out and shot the shooter outside the church. The shooter dropped his gun and fled the scene. A deputy found him dead near by. When the police are not with you (99.99% of the time) it takes a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun. I wish people would think with logic in place of emotion when it comes to gun laws. The only gun law we need is like the Swiss, every family must have a firearm and qualify each year with it. I was working in the Texas Criminal Justice System when concealed carry was passed and the criminals hated it. Ordinary people with guns made their criminal jobs so much more dangerous. I am serious!

Switzerland has one quarter the ratio of guns as the USA. Does anyone in America ever ponder why they have a frequency of mass shootings that is way above any other civilised country? Here's a hint - more guns is not the answer.
@wb5tty
6 жыл бұрын
Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the US but their violent crime is off the chart. I have had criminals tell me they are all for GUN CONTROL. I worked in the criminal justice system for over 20 years and have interviewed many violent offenders. Tough gun laws do two negative things. First a Black Market is created in the gun market which services mostly criminals fueled by gun running or gun theft. Secondly gun control places a burden on good people. Again I ask people to make decisions based on logic not emotions. Using emotion to make knee jerk reactions/solutions always goes bad. I wonder how people in the church were hoping someone had a concealed handgun in the church today or wished they had carried theirs. I don't speak based on what I think but what I have experienced. I was the victim of an armed robber before I worked in the criminal justice system. I am alive today because I was armed and could defend myself so don't try to BS me about doing away with guns to make the world a safer place. As a Christian I have an obligation to myself, my family, and my fellow man to do what ever I can to protect them from harm. Jesus said Christians who do not protect others are worse than an infidel. Remember the police are there to remove the bodies and take evidence to bring the offender to justice. Police protect you by getting criminals off the street after they have harmed or killed someone else.

Dishonorable discharge is same as a felony under the US Code/Gun Control Act. Many states do not include Dishonorable Discharge in their laws but Federal bans DD from passing a NICS check for gun purchases and ownership. There are also some Class C, B, and A Misdemeanors that can also take your gun rights away. Class C Domestic Violence/Assault is an example.

Hey John, big fan of the channel for a long time now. My church has stepped up security. We are a congregation of around 250 to 300 every week. We have formed a team of concerned individuals (most are CCers) and we are posting folks in the parking lot, and certain areas around the church every Sunday. Would you make a video/and or give recommended reading for church security/conceal carriers who are interested in profiling the mentally unstable (or mentally competent) with nefarious intent?

Good advice John especially the "further training" comments. With a persons willingness to carry comes the responsibility to become AND remain proficient in the use of your weapon. A person needs to understand and think through the tactics of "what if" when they carry concealed. Situations are often not "cut and dried" and your have to be prepared for the variations of situations you may face. The best way to do that is to train with professionals such as yourself who have the skills and experience. I may add the "disposition" as well is also a key for success. Just found your channel recently. Best regards!

If you aren’t a “responder” or on a “team” at your church, I would always have a handful of seating positions picked out that you have observed distance, lighting, backstop, and lane clarity so you know you can sit there and respond to a situation with high degree of confidence that one- you will achieve your goal, and two- you will do so safely. I always pick seats that are close to secondary exits so that the path to where I am is not the path of least resistance yet I can exit quickly if need be. I have kept my eyes up during prayer since the video you said to do that and in a pretty big church, I have yet to catch anyone else scanning for bad guys. Hope and pray it never happens, but if it does, at least my head will be up.

First off I'd like to say that I agree with 99.9% of what was said the little issue I have is that you mention a security force then talk about military and Leo but there are many trained competent able civilians that can also fill the role.

It's a good point with some of these things. When I was taking a handgun class with Alaska Tactical, I happened to notice that there was a group of guys at the range next to us. I was curious what they were doing and asked them. Turns out it was security for a church doing qualifications. They were running the Alaska State Troopers Qualification, but they have to score better with 85%. The troopers need to shoot at least 70%. It's good that the church has the security shoot better than the troops as a minimum.

Thank you so much for your video and input. As the PTA president of my kids school. I was able to get the main priest to lock up the church during school mass when all the children are there. My 2nd move is to have all the priests carry pepper spray. To protect the flock.

I’m a student pastor and oversee approximately 120+ students a week. A shepherd has a staff consisting of a hook (to gently pull in and guide sheep) and a pointy tip (to fend off wolves). Today that looks like a welcoming smile, a loving embrace, biblical teaching, and a concealed Glock 19. 😉

My step dads church, he actually runs security and conceal carries on the premises and while the sermon is going on he locks and unlocks the outside doors as need be. My step moms church, they have signs against open carry but the pastor told my step mom that "we dont like open carry, but we dont discourage conceal carry. We pretty much have our own free security team because of this"

FBI pistol standard is a great on to hold people to. Plus its fun to shoot. I do it on my own once a year in addition to my other training to see where I stand and if I have improved as a shooter.

The only way to harden any public place in this country is armed responsible citizens. Now that I’m a civilian I trust nobody but me to protect me. Sorry I’m not putting my safety or my families safety in the hands of some “security” guard. I’ll stay armed and aware.

Right on, bro! You said exactly what needs to be done, and I hope lots of congregations see this video. In our congregation, we have people at the front looking toward the back who are normally in that posture during the service so as not to stand out, and people at the back looking toward the front for the entire service, again who are normally in that position. We don't expect a problem, but we're always ready anyway.

We in Germany nearly haven't any guns and we don't have such an amount of shootings. And even the shooting that happened have far less dead (because you can't get any full automatic weapons). But I don't think that would be possible in the US, you have a far less populated countryside and a whole bunch more dangerous animals. But I think the biggest problem is, the bad guys will always have the "better" weapons, because they don't care if they are illegal. And you will eliminate evil, how will you eliminate evil without eliminate mankind man itself defines what is good and evil, with his words and his actions

josh benware most of these situations are stopped by a citizen with a firearm. You are correct that that's far from ideal, but just saying"do nothing" is a foolish suggestion; people should do whatever they can to stop the shooter (if it's obvious they're the shooter). I'm not saying run into a room and shoot the first person with a gun, but with focused thought identify the threat and, if possible, take action.

Excellent video and response. If you attend a church, talk to someone in leadership about a security team. I've too am a member of a church security team and we work together with other churches in our city to help each other. We also interact with local and Federal LE. It's a team sport, everybody has a part, and the LAST thing we need to do is let evil win by keeping us at home. Also - if you have a permit to carry, then TRAIN, and CARRY... We need every good guy and gal in this fight.

This happened in the small town Texas Church. One thing that's left me scratching my head is where were all the concealed carry holders in the congregation. I've been to several Urban churches in Houston were there are several members of the congregation that have concealed carry licenses and do carry. As soon as the sky walkthrough the doors and fired a few shots he should have been lit up

I am from Sutherland Springs. I'm writing a book about my life currently. This is where I lived when so many things happened to me that are so evil I can't explain. I was 5 years old and now after trying to make excuses for them my whole life, but my only theory is that they were possessed by something evil. I went through such extreme, and many types of all types of abuse and violence. The second time I was hospitalized for a brain injury caused by my parents I was expected to die and they said there was no chance of survival. I'm still not sure how I'm here. It makes no scientific or medical sense.

Keep this in mind, in order to carry in church, you need written permission to carry. If you have CPW, you know that you're not permitted to carry. It doesn't take much to approach the pastor and ask for permission, especially if you have CPW.

Depending on the size of the church. You may already have a city, sheriff, or state patrol as a member of the church. Just dressed in the Sunday best. Ask them if they would be willing to ditch the suit or dress shirt for their uniform.

Our pastor did a lot of what you mentioned John. And where our children's ministry is you must have a printed card with your child name on it visible in order to enter that area.
