I remember as a kid back in the 70's going to camp at some relatives property in Missouri, seeing the bazillions of cicadas on the tree trunks, thinking they sounded like a UFO or something. I went in the military and moved away before I could see them again, but the memory stays. Thanks!

Cicadas are pretty wild. I remember as a kid seeing them before. This year is supposed to be epic with two different kinds showing up. Pretty cool stuff to me

I always liked finding the shells as a kid. But never found that many in one spot

Never saw anything like that before. Is that an invasive bug?

They are not. they live underground for seven years. I read their shells are beneficial to the soil. They ugly little buggers but not harmful.
