This song by the Mamas and the Papas, California Dreaming, is so very appropriate for the era of the late 1960s May we all who deserve it rest in peace, someday.👍🙌🤘💯🌹🍷

The original house looked so pretty and picturesque in it’s surroundings - the farmhouse/cottage style gave it a cosy and peaceful quality despite its sad history, what on earth were they thinking when they built that fugly monstrosity on there ? - it looks like something I built with Lego aged 9, it sticks out like a sore thumb and ruins the view

Looks like a gaudy Mosque. Plus extremely top heavy for the piece of property. Just goes to show you that old saying continues to run true “Money can’t buy taste”. But then again there’s a lot of this in L.A. especially the Hills.

The original house was first owned by French actress Michele Morgan. It had so much more character and looked great nestled on the hill above Benedict Canyon. The monstrosity in its place is too big and doesn't belong in this spot

The first original house and property had a special charm to it that the new giant mansion could never have. I wish they had just left the original house and property alone but Sharon Tate had not really lived there very long and and only lived there for about 6 months but she was out of the country overseas making a movie for about 2 or 3 months so she spent very little time at Cielo Dr.

Ken: You are so right that house and property had so much charm and history from the early days until it was unfortunately torn down! December 24 ,1993 the owner let me on property to take one photo of the house being torn down, and to show me the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean beyond Santa Monica! All we can do now is remember all the victims and document the history of the house on Cielo Drive! Ken welcome to the channel!

I think this house is beautiful, it is just out of place in the neighborhood. The original Byrd house fit that piece of property so much better, this Franklin house belongs in bel air or Beverly crest? IMHO

I almost could have at least tolerated the new place if it looked like the first few photos you have, but then they just kept going to make it a monstrosity. Interestingly, they took it off market a week or so ago. Does anyone know if they disposed of the original house covertly, like they recently did with the Moscow, Idaho house?

House was torn down Christmas week 1993! Maybe they thought less people would notice during that time! That picture was taken Dec.24. Thanks for the comment!!!

It’s tacky.. Looks like a Saudi millionaire built that. The farmhouse, with the natural foliage was Classic. But, the bad vibe was always a problem.

That new house is ostentatious and ugly. I understand wanting to tear down the original because of the bad vibe there but the new builder has no taste at all.
