Liked the Gitty and Delta buckers the best. The Delta had the best thump and had a mystic tone!

Thank you for a good comparison. The snake oil and the gittybucker.sound very similar - both more mid-range and treble biased. To me the Delta had the warmest sound - and that says a lot when you're comparing a short scale to two longer scales - short scales generally being brighter sounding.. I've been testing some different pickup designs lately - first putting the test pickup on a 4-string solid body with 10's - three plain strings and one wound, then putting the same pickup on a 3 string CBG with all wound strings - the gauges commonly used. The all wound string set-up is a lot more forgiving when it comes to string-to-string volume balance and tone. The solid body with the standard set of electric guitar strings (3 plain, one wound) is a much more critical test of a pickup's sound attributes and balance - especially when playing high notes on the 1st and 2nd strings. Thanks again! I enjoy checking out your latest builds.

I like them all, but delta bucker is my favorite, followed by the snake oil humbucker. I used a gittybucker on my first build, and my current build has the delta bucker. All 3 guitars you built are awesome, and I would be happy with any one of them. Great job!

I'd go with the delta bucker,if...it had a 4wire connectivity, because I like to wire humbuckes over a parallel switch to make them two side by side single coils. But...great Guitars as always.

@@SouthernFireGuitars I have a question about the patriot license plate guitar: Since the aluminum plates are thin flexible metal, do you add any internal bracing underneath to stiffen the plate? I've made a few guitars with old steel license plates which seem stiff enough to support a floating bridge. I'm interested in your thoughts...Thanks for sharing your knowledge, work and experience.
@SouthernFireGuitars

@@adamwyman3859 Thanks Adam. The plate is screwed onto the box top, so that is it's support.
@adamwyman3859

Ok, I see, the plate is another layer over the box top rather than its own top. I've used some older steel plates as the only top and they seemed stiff enough on their own at first but I found I got much better results when I added bracing underneath (like acoustic guitars have). I superglue the thin strips of bracing to the underside of the length of most of the plate with cross pieces as well. I like this method more than just supporting the spot under the bridge as I've seen others do. Thanks for your reply.

I like them all, especially in the neck position. Great sounds. Were they all tuned to E and used the Shane string set? I’m looking for a set to tune to E that’s not too heavy or too sloppy. You may have saved me a lot of hunting and experimenting. 👍

You put out great videos, thanks. I just bought the Giddy Buster and it hummed like crazy. I think I got a bad one and they are going to replace it. Great company. It actually quit working altogether the 2nd day. Did you have any problem with hum when installing yours? It seems to be a weak, low resistance pickup. Does it work with distortion very well? Thanks again.
