I was born in London in 1944 at the time when the Nazis were bombing England. This means I am now 80 years old. In the 1960's London was the hub of a new era of music with lots of new groups and artists vying for top spot in the Charts. When Cilla suddenly appeared she had a strong and commanding tone to her voice that went straight to the core of your mind and heart. This song has stood the test of time and is incorporated in my own Harmonica playing and Singing performance repertoire. I didn't need to seek out or learn the lyrics, they are in my brain today as clear as they were on the day I first heard Cilla sing it and listened to it time and time and time again. Like so many artists I knew of then, Cilla has passed this life. But with people like me legacy carrying on the singing of Your My World and giving credit to Cilla for it, means that the younger generation will get to hear and love it as I did. RIP Cilla...........you live on through my performances and will never be forgotten. Keep a place near you for me........we might get do a heavenly duet together!

On this day in 1964 {May 1st} Cilla Black performed "You're My World" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'.... Four weeks later on May 28th, 1964 the song peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart and it spent fourteen weeks on the Top 50... And at the time her "Anyone Who Had A Heart" was at position #35 on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart, nine weeks earlier it had peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks} and it also spent fourteen weeks on the Top 50... Between 1963 and 1993 the Liverpool native had twenty-one records on the U.K. Singles chart, eleven made the Top 10... She just missed having a third #1 record when her "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"* peaked at #2 {for 1 week} in 1965, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Go Now!" by the Moody Blues... Ms. Black, born Priscilla Maria Veronica White, passed away at the age of 72 on August 1st, 2015... May she R.I.P. * The week after her "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" peaked at #2, the Righteous Brothers' version of the song moved into the #1 position for a two week stay...
