Very scenic loop hike in the mountains above Mezzolago in Val di Ledro.
The route is quite challenging, because it climbs very quickly on very steep paths. But it offers us a beautiful view of both Lake Ledro, Lake Garda and finally also the Plain of Arco. Along the stretch of the Austro-Hungarian Path 1915-1918, one relives the epic of the First World War: military walkways, trenches and tunnels. The most beautiful point is not the Oro peak, but the iron cross of the Monte Oro Observatory.
ITINERARY
Take the dirt road following the Ledro Trek - Medium signpost (860 m). After a while, take the path that shortens considerably compared to the dirt road to get to a beautiful panoramic point (1390 m) on Lake Ledro. Now follow the Cima Oro / Austro-Hungarian Path 1915-1918 trail that will take us very quickly to the Monte Oro Observatory (1690 m) and Cima Oro (1802 m). This stretch is dotted with military walkways, trenches and tunnels. Continue the path up to an altitude of 1672 m where you take path 413 which quickly leads us to Bocca Dromaè (1680 m). Here we go down the path 453 and passing through Malga Dromaè we return to the starting point.
