The world is in such a bad place right now and being the problem does not help. The princesses in the song are completely out of character. No one was vindictive or just snapped in the stories no matter how bad they were treated. The goodness in their hearts guided them to happiness while the vilians got what was coming to them. There have been some fairy tales that don't turn out good; heck some of the fairy tales we know today were readapted from their predecessors due to strange and bizzare ideas. For example, "Sun, Moon and Talia" had a princess fall into a coma from having flax stuck in her finger. a King impregnated her, and she gave birth during said coma, only for her baby to suck out the flax to have her wake up. Not everyone likes that idea. Thank goodness Charles Perrault made his version of the story that we know today being the inspiration for Walt's adaptation. Now, on the flipside, there are versions of these fairy tales that are better than the new versions; for example, The Three Bears. The modern tellings of the Three Bears has a naive child coming into the house of the Bears, Bears that are depicted as a Papa, Mama and Baby, and she ran off because she was found out. In the original "Robert Southey" version, all the bears are male (and likely bachelors) and the poem even goes into detail about who these bears are, and even mentions that the Bears would be hospitable in welcoming any guests. The Little Girl, however, is actually an impudent, bad old Woman who breaks into their home out of spite. The story goes on similarly to the story we know today, but it also talks about how the old woman cusses a storm when she ate up all the Small Bear's Porridge, or even broke his chair. The story ends on speculation that she broke her neck on her way out, and was taken to jail by the Beadle. I'm sure people would love this version of the story more than saying a naive child broke into the house. The person who created the Goldilocks change was a guy named Joseph Cundall, who did this because he felt there are too many stories about adult women being evil; talk about entering woke culture. I would also like to point out a problem in the song where she mentions Rapunzel: did she even read the original story, or watch the Disney film? Rapunzel was in a tower because of an witch being angsty over plants (in the original story, it was cabbages from her garden taken by a man to feed his wife, in the Disney film, it was a magic flower fed to a sick Queen); not only that, but the Prince (or Flynn Rider in the Disney film) wanted to take Rapunzel away from the Witch, because Rapunzel was treated as a prisoner in the Tower. To say she would cut her hair from being saved would be like saying a woman in a burning house refuses to let the Fire Department rescue her baby.

Not only is this an incredibly immature take on fairy tales but an ignorant one. Couple that with the cringe lyrics, the sub-par musical talent that grates on the ears, the utter ridiculous feminist arguments that are better attributed to people without good character (character which I'm sure this singer possesses none of) and just the blatant disgusting vindictiveness, and you have a ballad that is about as enjoyable or entertaining crawling across a mile of broken glass in the Sahara Desert right into the waiting claws of a rabid starving honey badger...

Fun fact: Even in Roman times the marriage was not about owning the woman, but about the right to rule over woman that her husband was reciving from her father. Sure, by modern standards it looks worse bad but at that time the only alternative were kidnaping and rape, quite common among the barbarian tribes. And well... the civilization had to start with small steps. Also in roman times, the wife was able to inheret a part of her husband wealth, being equal in rights to inheret as her children. It was a huge deal, beacuse in the ancient times, only the children were hiers of thier fathers, and wife was ussualy left with nothing. So despite in Rome it didnt looked well at the first glance, it was not so bad for the woman.

The only time I’ve seen an instance in Cinderella “snapping” was in the Guided Fate Paradox game. Long story short in the game the story character that is Cinderella learns of the truth of her existence, that she is a character of a fairy tale forced to repeat her story over and over thousands if not millions of times. Once she discovered this truth she became jaded over her own existence and wished to either change or be erased from the cycle no longer feeling the magic of the story she is bound to.

The first half of this song actually kinda had something going for it, y'know? Like Cinderella realizing the prince wasn't actually all that charming and just going "yeah, fuck that guy." But the second half when it rolecalls the other princesses is kinda.... euuugh. 😬 Like, I feel like they shot themselves in the foot by naming the princess from the Disney franchise (Tiana, Mulan, Jasmine, etc.) and not the original fairytales. Like, okay Jasmine *was* forced to marry someone else, but throughout the film she stands up for herself and stands her ground. She knew what *she* wanted; she wanted a guy who would treat her right, not some creepy old bastard like Jafar. "Tiana went and got a biomedical degree" Did Jax even watch the movie? Tiana wanted to own a successful restaurant. She wasn't pressured into doing so by her parents or anything. It was her dream. And she manages to achieve that dream in the end. (Let me remind you that this was during the *1920's* where the balance of racial rights was still waaaay off.) And do I even need to get started on Mulan? Y'know, who left her family, disguised herself as a man, and *joined the army?*

Ok, i really, really don’t mean to criticise in an unrespectful manner, but you are taking it way to technically and making a few sexist (don’t know if intenditely) “points”. And, if that was just a misunderstanding then I still would like to say that the whole idea of the song is not that things weren’t working out with Cinderella and her boyfriend, but that everything in every princesses world got to hard and controlled and she “snapped”. And once she stood up for herself it encouraged all the other women in the “land” to make demands as well. And a lot of the things she said like “im a goddamn CEO” is probably used in the metaphorical way, that she is a boss and can take care of herself. I really don’t know if this is just a misunderstanding or anything. I just (in case it wasn’t) wanted to point that out…. Also: sorry for the long comment haha 😂
@RavenKnightYT
Жыл бұрын
No disrespect taken. Allow me to explain myself. Firstly, I'm not sure which of my points were sexist, but I can assure you that I am not sexist and if you could point to the things I said that were sexist, I'll gladly apologize and correct those points if they are, in fact, sexist. Secondly, the interview Jax had (which I shared at the end of the video), had her explain that the song was inspired by a book her grandmother rewrote so that Cinderella became empowered and put the prince in his place for being a cheater. It had nothing to do with the other princesses. Thirdly: Why did the princesses start acting out? The song does not imply that their relationships were bad too. And even if they were, what does their behavior actually say? Take Jasmine and Mulan making out....that felt not only unnecessary but also rather homophobic. It implies that women should just abandon their men and go for other women if they feel like sticking it to them. That lesbianism is simply something women can do to get back at men. Also, what demands were made? None of the women made any demands in the song...they just all started acting out. So sorry...I have to disagree. Fourth: The CEO line could be a metaphor...except we have no idea of who the person telling the story is. Think of it like this: If the singer is telling a story and using Cinderella as a personal metaphor, that's fine...but we still need SOME idea of who she is in real life. The 'CEO' line is the only tie in outside of the princess metaphor. But even if it is true, why did she say 'equal pay me?' CEO's can make their own pay...so the line still makes no sense. :) Sorry...that's bad writing and bad metaphor. No disrespect intended or taken, and sorry for the long comment. But I wanted to explain my points.
@EmmaFranklin-Stokes
Жыл бұрын
@@RavenKnightYT Oh it’s completely fine. I apologise for making you feel like you had to explain yourself :) I can honestly say that I might have overreacted a little bit and thrown the word “sexist” in, you really made some valid points. I was in the wrong on this one haha 😂. So sorry for the confusion on my part. I hadn’t watched the full video and already commented, wich is a very rockier mistake haha. You are right that the song doesn’t actually “say” that all other princesses had problems to, what their problems were or what there demands were. But I think what I meant was that it’s simply implied. And Rapunzel shaving her head is a little confusing but maybe she wanted to but wasn’t allowed to. And maybe Jasmine making out with mulan is because they were both really an lgbt+ member but hid it and could now finally show people. And Tiana getting a biomedical degree could be because after everything happened she realised that’s what she wanted to do (but that one doesn’t really make sense ). So I do agree with you, but still stand by my (reframed) points (some at least). Still, sorry for all the back and fourth, your videos are Truly great! Sorry for the super long comment :)

Fair enough. Everyone is free to their opinions, even if they're wrong. You can find the song catchy...but it's clunky and poorly written (why did she say "every girl in the whole land" instead of "every girl across the land?" It would have sounded more natural and flowed better. Again, shitty writing) You can say I don't understand the Cinderella metaphor, but by her own admission she wrote this song to be a rewrite of Cinderella. I understood the metaphor and called it crap. You ignored the metaphor because you LIKE the song. :) you're free to. It doesn't change what she did. But let's agree to disagree. Like the song. Oh an btw in the original sleeping beauty story the prince doesn’t kiss her he raped her and she was woken up during birth. Also she didn’t woke up because of the kiss in the Disney version, she woke up because the 100 years were over. So either way it’s assault

Well we're not talking about the original fairy tale, because in every complaint about the story, they mention the kiss; not the sexual assault. So the focus for everyone seems to be on the Disney film. And no, you're actually incorrect on that. Look it up, my friend. In the Disney movie she did not sleep for 100 years, she woke up when Prince Phillip kissed her. So...not assault. :)

@@RavenKnightYT can you read? In the Disney version she also doesn’t wake up because of the kiss, she wakes up because the 100 years are over 🙂 It just happened that those 100 years were ever right when he kissed her. If your insecure incel ass wants to hate on people that are better than you at least gets your facts straight. 🤷🏻♀️😙

Okay...let's get my facts straight... From the actual Wikipedia on the 1959 Disney movie on Sleeping Beauty: "Phillip awakens Aurora with a kiss, breaking the spell and awakening the kingdom." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeping_Beauty_(1959_film) From the film synopsis given on the Disney website: "While Maleficent's magic is far too powerful for Merryweather to undo the curse, she does use her magic to soften the curse, whereby, instead of dying, Aurora will fall into a deep sleep that will only be undone by Love's First Kiss." disney.fandom.com/wiki/Sleeping_Beauty So um.....can YOU read? Plus, I don't even need sources. :) If she was asleep for 100 years, how was the prince even able to kiss her? We see her dance with the prince before she falls asleep and he's the exact same age when he kisses her. He didn't age 100 years...the kingdom didn't age. In fact her parents are still alive. 100 years didn't pass in the film. I mean can you provide a source that counters mine? I'd love to read it and see where I was wrong. But um...this ain't a good look for you, dear. If you're going to insult me, at least make sure you're right first?

@scarlettdevina7054 You're a very joyless person, I'll bet. Well then if you're ever in a coma and can only be woken by a kiss, I'll be sure to put a sign on your door saying 'don't bother, she'd rather sleep.' :)

This song isn’t supposed to be related to the fairytale it supposed to be like a alternate universe and the song isn’t a bad song it just your personal opinion and it’s fine to do this but the comments shouldn’t be “ I hate this song is the worst song ever “ and I know I’m exaggerating a little bit but its still what most of them are implying so you can have your own opinion but and make a video but the comments shouldn’t be like this

"This song isn’t supposed to be related to the fairytale it supposed to be like a alternate universe" Citation for that? Pretty sure that's not the case. "and the song isn’t a bad song it just your personal opinion" And saying it's not bad is YOUR personal opinion as well. The difference is that I supplied explanation as to why it's bad. "and it’s fine to do this but the comments shouldn’t be “ I hate this song is the worst song ever “" Why not? They too are voicing their opinions just as you are. "and I know I’m exaggerating a little bit but its still what most of them are implying" And again...they are allowed to have their own opinions. "so you can have your own opinion but and make a video but the comments shouldn’t be like this" The comments can say whatever they please. I've got comments that disagree. I've got comments that agree. I don't delete any of them, because I want everyone to have a chance to voice their thoughts.

@@RavenKnightYT I never said you should delete anything and your right they can say whatever they want and have their own opinions and that is what I am doing I don’t care if people agree or disagree with me I’m voicing my opinion and right now I like the song and later I might not but I’m just saying what I think and no I’m not trying to start drama so I’m sorry if anything I said hurt you or anyone else I know I probably said something’s that not everyone agrees with and I’m trying to see both sides of this so if some of the things I said in this doesn’t make sense I’m sorry and none of this is spouse to be rude or mean or sarcastic or anything

Ngl, Jax's music is normally really good. Victorias Secret normalised celluite. Bitchraft was just a bop. Honestly, this song had potential to say "we've made progression" and maybe talk about the old fucked up princess storys, but dont fuck with peoples childhood.

It's called commentary?
@John-fk2ky

It’s pretty easy. He does commentary and pauses so that he doesn’t miss part of the song and something else to comment on. For a comparison, go put on a movie with an audio commentary and pay attention to how much time is lost with each comment. My favorite movie, The Lion King, is about an hour and a half. The commentary is a bit longer because it spills into the credits. If I did a commentary with pauses, I’d be better served writing a book with stills taken from the film because an audio version would probably hit six to eight hours if I mentioned everything worth commenting on.
