For the cost of 2x of those new films (£120), you could buy a decent Motorola smartphone and with an SD card, film all day long. I personally wouldn't buy a film, but as a one off sentimental experience for someone who has fond memories of using them before years ago, why not have some fun, even if it does only last just over 3 minutes! 🕺💃 🎬🎥🎞️ 🙂

Many thanks a very happy new year. And lets hope things can only get better thanks as always for your very kind comments. Agreed £60 seems a crazy price for one film you could so easily muck it up as I use to do very often with Super 8 films. Nice thought but think I will stick with video! Best wishes Kev.

@@BramleyProductions It does seem a lot but, then again, those films cost about £10 back in the 70s IIRC. So, if you're also getting a digital transfer thrown in, it's not that bad as a novelty.

@@ianmcpherson3615 Oh, yes I agree as you say way back you could never afford to film much as the cost then was high super 8 or Standard 8 cine film was not a cheap hobby to do ever! Very true as you say. Thanks, Kev.

Hi, Do you lubricate the moving parts of the projector and, if so, what with?

To be honest I have never done this on this projector as it runs very well. I would only lubricate any brass bushings or such and be careful you only need the slightest drop. And never use anything like WD40! Which is highly flammable! The best thing I would have thought was a tiny drop of light oil that is used on sewing machines. But like clocks, one needs to be careful as oil attracts dust which is a problem in itself on projectors. Thanks for your comment Kev.

@@BramleyProductions Thanks. I have my father's old projector from the 70s. Now and then the wheels stop turning. The pulley wheels that basically drive most of the important moving parts need a little encouragement with my fingers to get them going again. However, taking the cover off, I noticed a little yellow pad lightly touching one of the wheels and wondered if I should add a drop of oil on that - which is probably what it's for. Hasn't been lubircated in 50 years, I'd guess. Only used occasionally, anyway. Good tip about the WD40.

@@ianmcpherson3615 Yep, that sounds like a felt oil pad for sure so like I say just a wee bit of light sewing machine oil would do the trick on that felt pad for sure. Most projectors do run warn with the lamp heat so as you say with time as well that would have dried out so worth doing. Kev.
